about studies… i studied in UK for one year, then quit because i didn’t like the uni. then studied in LT.. quit after 6 months and then studied in cork (ireland) for 1 year. it was one year course and i enjoyed it. great assignments, good teachers and brilliant atmosphere. tho 85% of my skills came from experience. you need work to get good, because uni can’t teach you business side of it. and you must agree it’s business in the end soooo if you have 0 knowledge in design i would say go for fulltime 4 year uni, tho if you have more than 2-3 yrs of exp. go with the college.
about the latest version of this threads flyer:
try using BOLD in the name of the party, it will look better, trust me!
make that text ‘full on/…’ smaller.
try not to use the same background in the info side of the flyer. if you use the same
then it becomes harder to know which side is info which is the main side. use less colour, less background detail in the info side.
but it looks way way better then the first version you showed! keep it up!
hey guys, i wanna make my own flyers etc. The thing is, i can’t rely on my friend s in this matter… takes too long, and i am fan of making design things reealy simple. problem though is i never used Photoshop before and i know it very komplex program and i am scared to even dig into it… Is there simpler graphic solution… You know, i am looking for best good-looking/time consuming ratio…
ps. i have 3D s Max experience, so i can model something and render it.. problem is with postproduction.
i don’t use photoshop for flyers. i mostly use vector based programs like ILLUSTRATOR. the print quality is better. photoshop says that its meant to be used for photos in its name anyway, everyone chooses their own weapon
if you can use 3d max, you will learn illustrator or photoshop quickly enough i guess.
not actually a flyer, but my last music related design.
digital cover for NYC based artists DRLKT FREDDIE and their new single BLOOD. coming out on DJS ARE NOT ROCKSTARS label. the music
is worth checking, trust me
thanks for the reply mate. ya my needs are basically just a bit of mentorship, so I can be in an environment where any questions I have about the craft+business can be answered by a pro to accelerate the development of my skill set. I was already leaning towards a one year program so it’s encouraging to hear that this condensed programs can be just as good as a university education for the right person. cheers
thats some nice design there aout6 got a website or something I can check? I am a designer myself.
As per the Photoshop thing photoshop IS the best tool for creating fliers, you just have to make sure you setup the document for high res print (ie A3 @ 300DPI) and make sure you use high res images etc. Illustrator elements etc can be brought into phtoshop as vector smart objects (and still be editable as vectors) thus allowing the best of both worlds.
I sometimes use Ai (Illustrator) entirely for doing fliers/designs (and pretty much always for doing vector illustrations & logos) but to be honest its nowhere near as flexible as photoshop.
