80 minutes YouTube-video of my latest mix - which visual content to put in it?
Since there is no restriction anymore concerning the length of a YT-clip I’ll upload my latest Mix-CD.
So I’ve got the video down.
I’m just asking myself which video/pictures to show within the 80 minutes.
Current choices are:
What are your suggestions?
Imho, all are kinda lame and so done-before.
How about going for a sleek & subtle audio-based animation? Think iTunes/WMP/… audio visualizer, but something way less complex.
It’s really easy if you have a little Adobe After Effects knowledge. If not, I suppose there may be some free & easy apps available to do it for you.
although the hot girls thing is everything but new it always draws quite some attention.
I know some Premiere Kung Fu but have no clue of After Effects (yet).
audio quality on youtube is generally terrible. it’s somewhat better in the HD formats (720p and up). however, afaik, even with HD you don’t get more than 128kbps. since i know youtube sounds so sh**ty, i wouldn’t stream an 80min DJ set off it. after all, soundcloud’s so much better and the supply there is plentyful.
i know my post is not answering exactly what you’re asking so take this fwiw. just thought i post it in case you’re unaware of the poor audio quality on youtube.
I bought yesterday a premium Soundcloud-account and uploaded the mix there.
I want to try how such long mixes work on YouTube. It will be probably taken off very quickly due to some record company whining.

Mix it up. get some hot girls with Hieronymus Bosch paintings throw in some McGyver cuts and Kung Fu and don’t forget about NASA’s photo of the day.
The music is already set so no Benny Hill.
Mixing it up sounds funny though.
Lets do the math:
each picture is shown for 10 seconds.
The Mix-CD is 80 minutes long.
Thats 6*80 pictures = 480 pictures
Better start posting some I can use EVERYONE!
next time you play out (if you do) try to take 480 pics
or at least half that
and upload those instead. would work towards a digital music kit for future promos…
I’ll include lots of pics of myself, MFC etc. but those are certainly not 480.

i couldnt imagine wanting to sit and watch pictures for 80 mins. someones gonna set it and walk away, imo.

How about going 1 pic per song (its 29 songs).
So I went with a stop-motion approach during the first minute and have a still for the other 79 minutes 
I wouldn’t put anything after about 10 mins. Eventually people will just leave it an open tab and browse around while listening.
Yeah videos should be short, but this time its about listening. Therefore there’s only short video-content in the beginning.
