a few questions about sample decks

yo,

wondering how to map a few things, and if this is even possible with sample decks:

  • is there a way to make the sample play button play every time you press it? instead of stopping the sample the second time pressed? i know if you select the deck (example deck c) you can use the cue buttons 1-4 below the sampler buttons to play samples, but its a cue play style, where you have to hold down the cur button the duration of the sample. any way to just have the regular play buttons quick trigger the sample with no stop function so i can “play beats” for example, or just use samples more like a drum machine…

  • second, is there any way to save samples into the decks permanently? would be kinda crazy if you can, given the way the sample decks work, but if i could that it would be awesome. i use a lot of the same samples in every live set, and i don’t like re-loading them when i restart traktor is all.

if you guys have any ideas on this lemme know, thanks!

As of right now there’s no way to do either of what you want. There is a current feature request on your first question on the NI board though. Wouldn’t hurt to add your +1 to that.

Completely agree with both points and find it hard to believe there is not a whole more people requesting these. Both are VERY basic sample management options, standard with any kind of sampling hard- or software since decades (even my old s950 can do it), so really puzzled why NI hasn’t included them.

  1. All they need to do is add one more type of playback style for a sample slot (re-trigger)
  2. “Save all current samples in Deck .. as group” and “Save all current samples as group” would save many dj’s a lot of time and hassle.

There’s new mapping commands on the last Traktor update that will do this now.

Can you please remove the player from your sig.

First part, sure. You want the button to be “play primary” when the slot state is paused. When the slot state is playing, set the command to “retrigger”.

As for saving them to the slot, as far as I know, not doable. However, I use the same 4 samples every set in one of my decks, and I’ve saved them to a favorites bin for easy access. I suppose if you REALLY wanted it to be quick quick access though, you could write a string of midi commands to navigate to the playlist, and individually load the pre-arranged samples one-by-one into the slots. You’d need to use a 3rd party software to set up a whole bunch of delays though, and it would take wayyyy more time than it’s worth, to avoid loading 8 samples individually (at least for me).

Thanks for reply. I’ve got the last update. Could you tell me what mapping commands you mean?

Re player - didn’t even know, it just shows my soundcloud url in my sig. Is that not possible?
