Ableton 9 Officially announced

You’re assuming I’m talking about foxcom or something, that’s not it. And I think the “other companies are bad too” argument is stupid. The actions of other organisations is not going to change how I feel about Apple or make me want to support them.

I also don’t enjoy the operating system, don’t like the styling and think they are deliberately flawed purely for the sake of squeezing more money out the customer.

The Ableton Live 9 suite upgrade has a 25% discount and free upgrade to Suite 9. Yikes! This is good. I think it was smart to combine all their offerings into the suite, MaxForLive and so on in Ableton 9.

PS: Frankly speaking I have a hard time seeing Bitwig compete against Ableton Live 9 suite…

I agree, if bitwig were much further in development- maybe- but ableton 9 looks like a really mature product with a lot going for it and I know bitwig will be missing some stuff I probably take for granted from ableton. Bitwig has some stuff going for it still but it looks a long way from ready and I think they made a big mistake hyping up the beta which I’m annoyed with. For months they made a big deal about how beta testing was about to start and to sign up, then nothing happened, they hyped it up some more and told people to sign up, and ended up not doing a public beta at all and the whole thing was just a ploy to get people’s emails to sign them up for their mailing list and create buzz.

Bitwig has the ultimate feature in my books- linux support. Ableton can’t compete with that for me :stuck_out_tongue:

Even if you have a DAW in linux that still doesn’t help if you want to use just about any plugin, but I guess it’s better than nothing.

There’s plenty of linux native plugins out there and bitwig has lots of nice native DSPs and instruments. I also have a sizeable collection of single cycle waveforms that I can use to turn something like renoise into a reasonably powerful wavetable synthesizer. It’s not really an issue.

I’m not making crazy dubstep FM8 wobbles, my needs are not complex.

I like the offer they have at the moment for ableton 8 plus a free update for only 224 euros. Not a bad deal at all!

Since I use Ableton mainly in arrangement view, I see no need for the Push controller, although it looks really good.

+1 for linux support.
Linux gives you the ability to create a REALLY trimmed down OS…imagine a laptop with modest hardware specs, but an OS that is really trimmed down to only the essentials necessary to run Bitwig…likely get great performance and a lot of stability which are very much important if you plan on playing live.

You could have an operating system that does literally nothing other than bitwig. That would be stabler and cheaper than any mac

Damn me being old and stuff!

As a bonus you could spend evenings having fun learning how to debug open source device drivers .

PS: I spent maybe up to eight years working with Linux as a dev platform and I don’t miss it at all.

Usb cards are all pretty much plug and play. Been DJing with linux for a while now.

I’ve been waiting for this announcement to finally get ableton. The Push + live suite looks really tempting!! Time to sell the maschine while I still can??? haha

I’ll upgrade if push includes the upgrade for live 8 owners. Otherwise got too much other shit on my plate to spend money on

I can’t wait to get my hands on that EQ 8!!
I do allot of work with a local show that my brother produces and most of that consists of me tweaking the audio from interviews and such. Right up my ally :tada:

Not sure how I feel about the audio to midi conversion yet. They are making things just a little bit too easy if you know what I mean  But I do see how this will be really helpful with dishing out on the spot ideas.

Looking good ableton!

Is it worth the extra 50 euros for the boxed version of suite with the 40gb library or go for the download with 3gb ?

I’m really excited for this! I can actually fire some roadies, get rid of gear, and be a mobile studio. I think the value in this is massive. I’m sad that it won’t be out until 2013, though.

i was just about to buy the ohmrgb, then i checked djtt real quick and look what ableton just put out… I’m still undecided weather i should get push later or the ohm now

Push > Ohm.

Form factor, velocity sensitivity, LED screen and integration are the key advantages to me here
