Ableton 9 Officially announced

Its finally real. Some new cool features in the midi realm for sampling and editing.
And finally curved automation!

what do you think about it?

I think there are a few new things that look nice.

I’m glad they finally added curved automation, and curious about the midi stuff. I still don’t like the look of arrangement view as it is still very messy visually with just the bar on the top instead of having some separation around the expanded view and hoped they might fix that to be more like just about every other DAW that does it better and has a more clear arrangement view.

The sounds to midi stuff sounds cool and will replace some of what melodyne does.

Push seems really cool in concept, not sure about in actual practice yet and depends on price. Though good to see something actually new and innovative for music production controllers that could be of actual use for making music (unlike the apc40 which has little use outside of a live setup).

overall I’m pretty satisfied and happy with the changes and would consider getting live 9 suite and push. Except for multi monitor support and some UI stuff it looks pretty good and enough to not bother waiting around for bitwig.

Live 9 looks promising, and Push looks really interesting, like Ableton tried to make a Maschine+Launchpad-esque controller.

Will there be an upgrade price for users coming from Live 8. I’m assuming this will not be a free upgrade.

EDIT: Disregard… I found the upgrade pricing structure.

Just me or is there no native 64bit still???

They havent listed it on site :L

On the youtube video they said yes to 64 bit support when someone asked in comments

Oh my god, that may be the sexiest thing I have ever seen. It needs to be made to work with bitwig.

edit: Oh my god they are pressure and velocity sensitive!

Hah good luck with that.

Time to get a mac and ableton

Good luck with that? Bitwig is going to have a scripting system for midi controllers so there will be zero problem getting it to work, just need someone to put the legwork in.

I refuse to ever buy anything from Apple for ethical reasons.

That’s ridiculous, as if no other company but Apple is doing things that are ethical inappropriate…

The way Bitwig has been in the terms of telling people whats actually fucking going on I dont even think we will see anything from them soon. I mean you would think somebody with such a hype at the start of year would have pushed out something for the public already and not get a casual facebook or twitter update every month…

None the less, I’ll definitely be looking at Live 9 now its 64bit :slight_smile::slight_smile:

Yup. I’m going to make the jump and buy ableton 9 as well. I wonder what will be cheaper though, buy ableton 8 at 25% off and get a free upgrade to 9. Or just buy 9 alone…I wish it would show that.

You’re assuming that Apple is the only company I don’t buy from.

I’m on the same plate as you. I’m sitting here with the cart open about to buy live 8 thinking it will be cheaper.

I am eligible for a student discount though

I have regular Live 8 and it says the upgrade to Studio 9 is 400 and the regular upgrade to 9 is 170. Granted i’ll pay it, but $170 is a little steep for what feels like an incremental update to what I already paid for.

if I only had the money right now I would buy it immeadiately. gotta get a summer job

I think i’m gonna stick to 8 as I am just now getting used to it and don’t feel like paying an arm and a leg for a few more features. I dunno im stuck at a DAW crossroad :disappointed:

hopefully someone figures this out save some $$

If you’ve ever bought any consumer product ever, you are the first world monster hippies sing songs about. I don’t know how you’re on the internet, virtually every computer on the planet is made with far more ethical impact than anything Apple’s involved in, you just hear about Apple in the news a lot.

On topic, that Push thing looks way nicer than anything Live 9 has to offer. Its finally a real controller solution for Live, rather than the piecemeal systems it’s been running off.

:heart_eyes::heart_eyes: Push! :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:
