Wow this looks like a very cool Ableton controller!
That looks amazing
You beat me to it
Did anyone else see that it says ableton suite 8 box for $44 at the bottom page?
I’m going to assume you’d need to buy a license or something still but I am really not sure.
I’m there - I want it on day 1.
Yes it’s the box only with all the installation and merchandise content (stickers etc.) but without a license. So you will wanna buy it when you’re uhappy with having bought only the web download version without box and something to touch! ![]()
It looks great, unfortunately the promo shots all feature the knob twiddler’s hand covering the very screen they need to look at, which already makes me want to smash the thing into about a million pieces.
Sorry Maschine, this is the next controller I will get.
Looks simply wonderful. Wow! Just had a tour of the official product page. This thing is serious.
hahaha oh man talk about a design flaw.
I’m in.
good catch, that was stupid
Everything else though looks very thought out. This along with maschine will be awesome
Can anyone explain how playing melodies, scales, and chords work? I’ve watched the videos but I’m confused by how this concept works.
each darker pad is C (or the root note of the scale assuming you can transpose it).
Well looks like i’m ditching my DVS dreams and switching to saving for this instead
Think they’ll release a bitwig template?
!
found this on the ableton forums in response to encoder/lcd screen placement:
We thought a lot about this, and had many debates. You can’t win completely either way – when the encoders are under the screen, you can’t see the screen when sitting down, because the encoder and your hand block the viewing angle to the display. We mocked up both and took the one we thought did best in both sitting and standing positions.
A second influence was that we wanted the buttons beneath the display to interact with the display (i.e. the buttons are used to select devices, mute tracks, etc.). We could have put the buttons above the display, but this would have lead to a much larger unit, as you’d need a PCB above the display, and below, and a PCB board requires room above/below it. As is, we were able to make sure Push fits in your backpack.

Nice of them to even reply to this .. not often designers/managers are so clear and up front about such decisions (with the exception of n3m0nic
)
Man, that is actually a really good job from Ableton, they’re stepping up. I guess this one will battle the Maschine if it all works well. Not sure if I want to ditch my Maschine for it though. And the combined price of €778,00 for Push + Live isn’t that bad either. Too bad new stuff gets released every other day, making it hard for us to pick one & stick to it without regretting our decisions.
I’m really really considering this!
Also really interested in some mad mappings people will make with this piece of kit.
