Ableton 9 who’s getting it? What do you think so far?
Well waiting to try to get it now. Servers are totally screwed, anyone get it yet?

Going to jump on it at the end of this month when I buy Push. Looking forward.
I’m looking at that push heavily too. I want to see some reviews first then decide.
I finally got authentication to work about an hour ago, but haven’t played around with it yet. I’d been using the beta for quite awhile before that, does anyone know if the release version is much different from the last beta build?
happy birthday to me! Gonna download the update as soon as i get home from work, and its my birthday too, thanks abelton![]()
Im debating to go to 9 or jump ship to logic, is there a 9 demo yet?
Either get logic now while its cheap on the app store, or wait for the new logic, if it ever comes… I have both logic and ableton. I prefer working in ableton personally. But logic has some great features as well. Not sure if there is a 9 demo yet.
Ill be buying it in physical format, heard a LOT of horror stories about logic from the app store
2 hours to download Ableton Live 9. Felt like the days of dial up.
Haven’t done much in depth analysis into it, but I am really seeing potential with the audio to midi function.
It needs some tweaking to the algo, but I can see myself toying with this function endlessly.
My current workflow has been to sequence in Live, then do all the mastering and routings in Logic.
Not going to start a flame war, but it just works better for me. Plus, my Waves plug ins never seemed to work right in Live 8.
Plus, 8 was a mess with external midi.
Either way, looking forward to exploring more later tonight!
BTW… had Logic as a boxed version, then upgraded through the app store. Had no issues what so ever.
2 hours…I am still downloding… Its been like 3-4.Ugh I also have logic through app store with no issues.
Yuck, I woke up this morning 9 am EST. Downloaded 9 in 8 minutes. Had to download and install 2008 Redistributable C++ x64 (I installed the 64bit client) (seemed to have every other one but that one lol)
Still downloading. Can’t wait to get it installed with all the Suite content too.
Gonna demo it while it lasts, then i’m gonna make the call.
I finally got it. So far pretty nice, haven’t had a chance to fully sit down to play with it.
Finally got it downloaded and installed. Opened it to check to see if it works but nothing else. Finally got my Live packs downloaded too. The Live Suite got hooked up.
Got it, haven’t tried it yet.
I’ve never really liked the look of Ableton tbh, think I’ll probably stick with Reason and Komplete.
Wouldn’t have killed them to actually hire a UI designer so it didn’t look like crap, although the same thing applies to pretty much every production suite out there :-\
I think Ableton’s UI is a lot cleaner than most of the other DAWs. I don’t need a mixer/compressor/plugin that looks like it’s real life counterpart, just one that is easy to look and navigate for hours. The new skin does look a lot like a user made one that tried to port logic’s color scheme for live 7, I’m back to “Light Gray”.
Luckily, there are UI for pretty much anyone.
I accidentally dropped a 45 second clip of a hall and oates song and ran the audio to midi in harmonic mode and the results came out pretty accurate. Definitely a lot of usable midi if I were to want to remix “I cant go for that” My only gripe is that using an older macbook pro with only 2 gigs of ram on OSX 10.6.6 was close to maxing with the demo song. Shame on me for using a macbook from 2006.
Because the flat colors, solid lines and lack of shadows create less eye strain than say Logic or Pro Tools, with bevels, bubbles and shading. The idea behind the design was eye fatigue. Why do you need the DAW to “look” pretty? Oh well.. To each their own.
So far the downside is, Remote Scripts are broken for alot of devices until NI releases their beta mappings (ie: the MK2 for me )
You can download it from the service center under content downloads and updates
