Ableton most have Vst's?

Ableton most have Vst’s?

Hi I just have a little question about reason & ableton
I use reason more than ableton but I want to get more involved in ableton too so im getting some good beats in reason (i love kong) and the idea is to mix&edit them in ableton cause i hate arrangement view of reason
Simple.

Anyway my question here is what are the best free or ‘cheap’ vst for ableton and i meant reverbs delays synth compressors limitators saturator filters flangers lfo’s etc etc etc

I saw the drum rack post in the blog tomorrow i’m going to read it

I already use google and read some blogs even here & I have some decents Vst’s but i want your opinion.
I like these forum’s opinion ajjajaja.
Maybe can be healpfull for me or anyone

thanks

Did you bother to check Ableton’s website? Ableton comes with all of those.

If you’re on a budget, the stuff that comes with Ableton Suite sounds pretty good to my ears…it won’t be the limit of what you can do with Live, I assure you.

As far as dynamics, I’m liking the NI Solid Mix Series and Transient Master…except that they run in the Guitar Rig Player, which is a fucking stupid decision compared to just making them their own plugins. But they sound okay and are a lot cheaper than Duende or the Waves versions that I’ve used previously when I wasn’t paying for them.

I’m also a fan of the TT Dynamic Range Meter, especially if you’re just learning to use compressors. It’s not actually giving more information than the gain reduction mode of every compressor’s meter…but it’s a nice visual as a learning tool…and it looks cool.

As far as instruments…the stuff that comes with Live Suite is kinda cool. And I’m liking the demo of Absynth…I should probably get around to buying it before my trial is up. But, it’s not free. Mostly, I use sampled instruments in Maschine because it’s just a littler closer to convincing me that I’m using hardware, which makes more sense in my head for some reason. So…not really helpful. I’d probably just ReWire Reason into Live if I were you and use Thor and Maelstrom…they’ve got the best interfaces of soft synths I’ve tried.

I don’t know anything about delays and reverbs because I use Logic’s and Maschine’s native plugins. I remember liking one of the Moog delays…but I don’t have a clue what it cost because I didn’t pay for any of the software on that system (PT HD Studio at School, not stolen). I also remember really liking the Bomb Factory dynamics plugins and the PuigChild compressors from Waves, but again…I didn’t pay for them…I seriously doubt they count as “cheap.” There was something like $100,000 worth of plugins on that computer.

And I don’t know anything about normal effects (phaser, flanger, etc.) because they all sound the same to me…which means I just don’t use them.

As for saturators/distortion…I like TAL-Tube for a free one and kind of hated Ableton’s actual saturator. But, I’ve had the best luck running the synth audio out of my sound card → my guitar amp → load box (to bring it down to line level) → audio input and then recording it and EQing it all to hell. Logic’s Amp Designer gets kind of awesome results on synths and is tweakable. Live’s Amp plugin kind of sucks IMHO, but it’s better than the Saturator to my ears.

Disclaimer: I’m one hell of an amateur at this side of things. I’ve just played with some awesome toys and think I have okay ears.

and you gave me a pretty damng good answer bro
i just dont like the looks of the ableton vst thats it i do use thor and maelstrom but I want some good synths i have never try out maschine i think when i go back from work iI probably try it i love NI and I have never try out absynth I will get inside that girl too thanks
any other suggestions?

edit*
I always think maschine have a software too if you dont have the hardware i’m wrong?

check out massive vst as well.

Maschine software isn’t available without the hardware. It’s also pointless.

Massive yea nice vst

Im still fighting with reaktor any good tutorial in this forum anyoneknow?

About the maschine :c i Was wrong all this time jajaja thanks

Reaktor just looks intimidating. I’d say start messing with Reaktor after you’ve learned at least one or two other synths though, because I believe it’s mainly designed to have you create your own instruments rather than be limited by what comes with one set VST.

If you want some good synths, aside from looking at previous posts in the forum, you can always demo some of the top stuff like Sylenth, Zebra II, Z3ta, etc. They all use synthesis in different ways, but have lots of the same elemental functions. For example, I use Massive mainly for basslines/grit, then FM8 whenever I need a bit of sparkle. For free I like stuff like the TAL line, or Crystal - a modular synth. It all depends on how YOU want to sound.

That’s if you wanted recommendations, but anyone who has searched forums will tell you there is loads of info just a google search away. Happy hunting! Hope it helped.

This is off topic, but are there any VST’s for drums? For some reason I don’t have impulse drums on my Mac.

Get reason and use KONG and redrum
thse are the best drums rack I have use in my life

Damage, Battery and studio drummer are VSTs from native instruments.

just to name a few. I’m sure other companies have them as well.

Thanks so much. I think it’s time for some early Christmas gifts anyway.

μTonic (Sonic Charge - Microtonic) has a good reputation, but I haven’t used it.

I’d seriously consider ADM if I were buying a drum plugin (http://www.audiorealism.se/adm/index.htm), mostly because the drum machines in Technobox2 are amazing fun.

More on a budget, hydrogen (http://www.hydrogen-music.org/hcms/) is kind of interesting and might work on OS X, though probably not Windows. And, I think iDrum by iZotope might be free or cheap. I haven’t used either extensively because I kinda just dove in and I’ve always had a DAW that came with a drum machine.

My legit suggestion is Maschine, but…it’s a bit expensive, and if you’re just getting into production, learning Ableton and Maschine at the same time will confuse you. It’s also overkill if you just want a drum machine. It’s less overkill for that than for controlling Traktor, at least.

I haven’t used the other two, but I hate Battery. I don’t know what version they’re on, but if someone wants to PM me and pay for shipping, I’ll mail a full, legit, deauthorized copy of Battery 3 to the first taker…assuming I still know where the install CD is (I think I do).

The interface sucks; the library sucks; and it takes forever to install. There was literally nothing good about it in my experience.

sylenth is a great plugin, very easy to operate and a very fat sound if you know how to use it, I used to use massive, until I figured out how sylenth works, the only downside is there is less automation than massive, but that can be good as you could get easily confused using massive’s modifiers at the start.

sylenth 139 pound
massive $199

If I were to purchase battery, or another NI VST, does it come with a disc that has all those gigabytes of sound on it?

you mean sound samples in a raw format that you can use without installing the product?

i’ll look at my Komplete 8 disks, but i’m pretty sure the only samples on it were for Reaktor. (60 GBs worth).

I believe Battery does, yes. Also, I just found the install disks. So, if someone wants them, PM me with an address and I’ll give you the paypal address for postage and the amount.

I’m really not kidding. I hate it. And it’s Battery 3, but it’s new enough to run on Intel Macs if thats a concern.

I really like some of the products from Camel. http://www.camelaudio.com

Personally I like the crusher they have a lot, it’s something I’ve grown used to using.

I also like Rob Papen’s line of VST’s. Ever since seeing the production videos with Rusko and Benga using Albino 3, it made me want to learn that particular VST. His others are good for what they are.

I really liked the ITCHY synths when I had my PC. As far as I know they aren’t Mac compatible. Same goes for GLITCH (not sure who makes it).

I also like this “Sumo” VST. Makes things just sound fat. Loading...

But yeah. Just my 2 cents.
