Your top 3 VSTs
tried searching “vst” on here and nothing came up. trying to narrow my choices to three and master them instead of just trying out hundreds. looking to produce prog house and electro house–porter robinson/mat zo sound. thanks!

Rob Papen’s Sub Boom Bass and Predator are amazingly versatile synths that get the job done, and I’m also a fan of the Kore 2 player from NI and the free Minimogue VST that’s out there.
Seems the search function is broken on your side. Hint: sometime adding a wildcard () in the search bar may help… e.g. VST
I don’t think the search works for 3 letter words like VST or VCI
This is why I suggested the * WildCard
VCI*
VST*
Lennar Digital’s Sylenth1, All of the PSP processors, Xfer’s Nerve
Lennar digital sylenth1,rob papen predator and z3ta if I’m using my pc.If I’m using logic I often use klopfgeist
^maybe I don’t know how to use klopfgeist well, its not like a normal synth like es2 but the bass setting on it is pretty good for sub bass..are there any tutorials for klopfgeist you know of?
I didn’t realise its potential till I watched the Sander van doorn studio sessions on YouTube
It’s so simple,yet effective
Great, thanks guys!
WHAT THE HELL? WHY DID NO ONE MENTION MASSIVE?
Native Instrument’s Massive is just the best damn synth.
haha ya i was waiting for massive
What host are you using? I’m still a big fan of Live’s Analog device. I kinda wish it were available as a plugin for other programs.
Not strictly a VST, but I’d say just buy Reason instead of a bundle of different VST’s of varying quality (apart from Massive, which is an astounding synth for the money).
The only things I tend to use is Ableton Suite 8 as the host, Reason rewired into it and Massive for any additional synth sounds. Reason lets you build racks and synth to produce almost ANY sound you want, has a ton of very high quality effects and mastering tools and has Kong drum sampler giving you amazing drum sounds.
Them 3 in combo give you absolutely midblowing sounds! If you’re using another host, you can stil rewire Reason into it as a slave and use Massive as a VST.
Live and Logic. never really dabbled into Analog, or any of the instruments for that matter (ignorance I guess). But I’ve watched a few youtube vids where a guy will reproduce say a Skrillex song ALMOST spot on with just Operator. crazy stuff.
When I’m bored, DelayLama ![]()
ive heard others mention that, I’ll have to try it–not just for the awesome name.
I really like Albino 3, and I’ve been playing around more with Absynth. I need to get my act together and go buy Massive, I’ve only heard amazing things.
Right now I’m going through the process of getting my head around my workflow, and trying to get my drums just right, so playing around with VST isn’t coming second to that lol.
I’m not trying to jack this thread or anything, but since it’s in a similar topic I’ll just ask here. What 3 VSTs would you suggest for a beginner(Ableton Live)?
Thanks.
Operator is awesome but easy to overlook if you are new to Ableton
some operator examples
