Next couple of months I intend picking up a few vst’s for Ableton, looking for a good all in one synth EG Albino 3 and also going to be picking up a minomoog already set my mine on the GForce Minimonsta, so is there anything else people could recommend which they think is pretty decent, mainly working on Deep and Tech house for now
I’ve tried Nexus, and even though it’s really cool, I think it’s too easy (if that sounds logical..?) I mean the sounds are so awesome even if they are untuned.
Today, I discovered a ‘string’ VST (free!) called ‘DSK Strings’, can be downloaded HERE. Sorry if you were not looking for free VSTs but I guess some money saving can’t hurt, right?
Massive == win, been using it in every project i do for the last few years now - sick synth
Albino is pretty sweet too.
Though really i would say dont go out and buy a ton of synths at once, pick one, buy it, learn it inside out then when your ready to move on grab another.
Free is always nice as long as i can use it on the mac
will check out the nexus as well, I am currently on a test first buy later only after trying it out for a few weeks as it’s not cheap buying these things lol.
that’s how I am thinking as i doing the teach yourself when I have time method along with a few videos friends have made me and general youtube, so buying anything apart from what I have currently is going to be seriously looked into first, I will most definitely be getting a moog vst as i love that sound for deep house, as for synth going to mess around with all of them..
Sylenth - All around stellar synth
Waldorf Largo - Great VST if you don’t want to buy a proper virtual analog synth
In my opinion, the most important thing above all is to learn each VST inside and out before you learn another. It might seem tedious, but you’ll waste a hell of a lot of time fumbling around if you don’t dedicate the time to learn.
i just got my hands on Dcam Synth Squad , they are great everything you could need , you need a pretty fast OS to run them on tho me and my mate are running them on 3ghz 8 core mac with 10 gig ram so obv that is not an issue however on my macbook 2.5 duel core with 4 gig ram it can strugle at times but still workable if i freeze the track (on logic)
besides that try looking at “ARTURIA V COLLECTION” or “ARTURIA Analog Factory” which is a nice cheaper little package which comes with its own midi controler some of sounds on it are great others are hit and miss to be honest but still a great buy
Minimonsta is top of my list of toys to buy, my partner in music used it recently on a new track we are working on, sounds brilliant some of the preset bass sounds are fking brilliant
