Appreciate what? A club trying too hard to be edgy and underground in order to gain some popularity?
yeah why not? what is a club without customers?
There’s a fair amount of clubs in the world which are packed weekly without insulting producers and DJs.
If you don’t want people who play Guetta to DJ at your club, don’t book them - it’s really simple. There’s no need to be a bellend about it.
I agree, but I suppose you didn’t notice the bolded 3AM in the middle. they are not banning them permanently, just a certain time. so you should be ok to play them before the noted time. just thought to share didnt meant to offend your “bellend”
I would think the manager would book someone who he knows can perform. We have plenty of clubs like this in Chicago. The poster specifically mentions after 3 a.m anyways… If anyone plays this shit at an after-hours event then they won’t have a chance to drop their next song before they get the boot.
How does that change anything? They’re still putting artists down which is completely unacceptable.
You posting the piece of news isn’t offensive. What the club is doing, however, is offensive and a good example of a club which focuses on publicity gimmicks rather than putting on good nights.
imho this whole thing sounds ridiculous like everything else that came to/from las vegas. nevermind. i wont be going there neither will i be supporting anything like this.
this is just another way to promote a mainstream thing the underground way…
their house, their rules. plus they are in vegas. there is a good choice that some other club is playing that stuff anyway.
as for it being offensive: some people seem to have thin skin, if they see something like this as offensive.
Any club that books djs that need telling what to do is a shit club run by shit promoters that don’t know how to book or know decent djs .
I wouldn’t dj there on principle, they obviously have issues with the djs they employ otherwise they wouldn’t put that sign up.
It’s making the club look bad.
You’re literally making me repeat what you quoted. If they’re trying to get more customers than other similar clubs in the area, they should put on better nights, not make up some bullshit rules to make them famous on the internet.
I’m sorry for my skin not being thick enough to tolerate calling a 17-year-old kid a douche just because he made a popular song.
I know a DJ who posted this to his Twitter like he was the shit and it was totally cool. I read it and all I took in from it was “DJ Rules after 3AM - Do not play music people want”
Self indulgent DJing is great, but if people are going to give their precious time to let you entertain them, you better entertain them. No one wants to see 3 hours of self fellatio.
Here’s the interview with the owner of the club and writer of this list.
Believe it or not, there are specific scenes when it comes to certain areas/regions for music and I can assure you there are plenty of people who agree with this, and all of them will be attending this venue. I live in Chicago, one thing I can promise you is that the majority of our nightlife will agree with this list as well. Maybe it’s hard to grasp that fact because you aren’t a part of it, but it’s a reality. He can call Garrix a douche all day, and the club will fill with thousands of people who agree.
Seriously, it’s like I’m speaking in Spanish.
No one says not playing the music by the mentioned artists is bad. I myself haven’t heard any of them in months, I just don’t like them. If that guy has been in the scene for so long, he should be able to promote his bloody night without blacklisting artists just to look edgy. Also, if he NEEDS to specify what artists not to be played, he must be shit at booking DJs which will undoubtedly lead to a bad night.
The scene should be about the shared love for music, not having a “better” taste and calling a 17-year-old kid a douche just because you’re an asshole who wants to make money.
I have a feeling this was an inside joke that became very public… Club opened 2 days ago.. This is hardly offensive and I’m sorry I find it completely acceptable when someone comes to request a song tap the sign and carry on.. If you read article sounds like they have resident djs so likely already know these things which means signs mostly a joke
But the joke isn’t funny. This is the problem with the DJ industry right now, you’ve got these guys who are like “Oh man that’s not cool” and “This isn’t cool” and “Don’t listen to that because it isn’t cool”. Okay, so you might not like Frank Sinatra, but I do. You don’t think that’s cool? Well stick it up your arse. No one should be made to feel bad because of their music taste, it’s one of the few art forms that nearly everyone can relate to.
Umm no one is saying that or this isn’t cool they just don’t want you playing that style of music after hours… I don’t get the big deal if I was playing a club who wants a purists EDM atmosphere I wouldn’t drop any of the listed out of respect… If you want to listen to what I can pop house / pop club goto the appropriate club to listen to it… Sorry when I’m grooving some to deep house or tech house or trance I don’t want to hear animals dropped just because it’s the right key to be played next and because the brod I’m tryig to pick up likes it… Seriously and further more they have resident djs which means likely they will not get a promoter bringing in djs regularly and sometimes promoters don’t exactly
Pick a good dj for a event… Maybe the promoter is friends of friends and got a shot at it…
I’d love to be able to play non stop not mainstream club music but there aren’t bars/clubs that cater to it in my area…
I am also the kind of guy who’s walked out of VIP rooms because I got tired of listening to shotty mixed tracks and the top 100 of what’s trending in the billboard top 100 electronic/dance chart…
Clearly if you have a problem with what this club is doing then you are not their target audience.
You don’t goto a country bar and expect to hear pop versions of every country song do you? You don’t goto a real hip hop club to listen to tpain/drake/pit bull/ Beyoncé do you? Follow my drift?
Yeah, well that’s how you feel… Many others agree with what the picture says. If you’re in charge, you can do as you please.
As for the above comment about him being shitty at booking DJs, I highly doubt it. In that scene you know what you’re paying for. Nic Fanciulli or Seth Troxler isn;t going to roll into your club and drop any of that shit. He won’t be booking those artists.
