I predict retail over $2000

Yeah but araabmuzik>Jeremy Ellis.
Kidding but not.

Nothing impressive to me, definitely not for me either, BUT I understand why some will like & grab it. Best chance Akai.

NI Maschine > MPC Renaissance

ill stick with my Maschine and they should’ve at least made it look like the computer was plugged in during the video looked like a macbook just sitting next to the MPC lol

looks nice

this… their price will be so ridiculous no way it can compete with maschine…

The MPC5000 retails for $3499 if that is any indication, I predict close to there but said 2k to be conservative.

whats a maschine theyre only $600 brand new arent they?

the only thing i think is “how could they possibly make them so expensive with the maschine out there for a fraction of the price…”

MPC is the original and many are true to the brand

people who cant realize that times change make me sick

maybe if i had an abundance of money i would think of getting it…

or you had been producing beats and tunes on an MPC for ages and really don’t want to learn a whole new workflow and equipment feel?

I really don’t think people are giving the MPC series enough respect.

people are always stuck in this “it was the first so its the best” mind set… which just doesnt apply. times change and things improve, midi controllers r the future in my eyes (i think most would agree) and although it might be some peoples personal preferences not to use them that doesnt mean theyre not better and easier to use.

I really don’t think you know what you are talking about mate. That video shows the whole “controllerism” concept years before the hipsters even knew what midi was.

MIDI controllers aren’t everything and I do like the concept of software/hardware integration that can also be used standalone or with audio hardware on board.

If I was an MPC user I would be all over this but it just doesn’t mean much to me or anyone who has never really used one.

i didnt watch your video tbh. the comp im on takes FOREVER to load videos. so im not sure if what i said even applys but i assumed u were saying something along the lines of MPCs > midi controllers like maschine.

You do understand that the new akai unit can be used as both hardware only and through software like maschine? It’s much more than maschine.

oliosky has got it right.

Remember, these are instruments in the same way a turntable is. All you need is power and cones (and a modicom of skill) to use it, rather than having to find enough sockets and wire up a computer and have the correct drivers and the correct mappings and the correct version of your projects…

(That, and being a burned Kore user I won’t be investing in NI anymore)

controllerism has never been only about shooting samples (or hotcues) or just having a routine. I think everybody knows live sampling has been around for quite some time.

I’m a little confused so far it hasn’t been made totally clear, can this be used stand alone with no computer? If it is cool but I also think that’s going to drive up the price and also hurt them by trying to appeal to both markets (Maschine and MPC) Maschine’s size/price/workflow is awesome and it keeps getting better with age. MPC obviously has history and familiarity with people who have stuck with it. I feel the Renaissance is going to end up being very pricey by trying to be both a stand alone unit with everything built in and by being a software unit as well. Also the unit’s pretty big, if it was between taking that or a Maschine on the road i’d pick the Maschine. I think MPC users will have preferred it to be kept in the box while Maschine users will be comfortable with the price and workflow of Maschine and won’t consider another hard/soft solution.

Just my thoughts, I just think the product contradicts itself in someways. Wonder if we’ll see a rebuttal from NI in the form of Maschine 2 or new 2.0 controller.

O Rly? I understand differently
