Anyone down for a origins of Electro Break Beat Train?
So as we don’t get too confused I’m thinking Electro Break Beats from the 80’s.
Were talking the origins of Electro/Electro Funk
So think Kraftwerk, Early Afrika Bambaataa, Electric Kingdom, Clear, AL-NAAFIYSH ( THE SOUL ), Art of Noise, Newcleus, etc.
Basically, Computerized/Electronic non 4/4 Beats.
This one video and song sums the vibe up the best. Electro was once where B-Boys/Hip Hop and Electronic music met for short period of time and it was glorious.
I might be down for a bit of that. We’re talking originals or re-edits? Actually if I did do that I might have to dust off the vinyl. Only problem for me is I’m extreemly busy for the next month but if you need somebody to round out the list I’d be down.
Looks like we’re no going to get enough peeps for this one, YET. Which actually gives me a chance to rip some of my old vinyl. As I’m not nor have I ever been a scratch DJ, I wouldn’t be able to give some of these tracks their deserved original use. But I was an AVID collector of early electro and played through a ton of it after reading this thread. Since we have to keep our section smaller, I thought it might be fun to do a 15-20 min mega mix with as many loops & cuts from various tracks as I could, sort of on homage to the “Old School Mega Mix” but with out scratching chops, I’ll just have to try it with loops & samples once I get the new Traktor Update. Hopefully by then, we’ll get some more people interested in this. Actually kinda surprised there aren’t more people jumping on but with that being said there’s been a TON of MixTrains very recently so maybe it’s just a timing isue.
