Bass Guitar Samples/VSTs

Bass Guitar Samples/VSTs

Hey guys,
I’d like to know where I can get bass guitar samples or VSTs which sound similar to these:

At around 2:06 it comes in:

…or like the guitar in the intro of animus vox by the glitch mob

I don’t know how to describe it properly but I’m sure you know what I mean

Thanks in advance!

You could probably get close to that with a synth pluck and some processing.

I would scan through the NI Kontakt library to find something suitable, but it assumes you have Kontakt or Komplete, of course. Actually I would just pick one of my five bass guitars and play that part up high on the fretboard with a pick.

Alright, I’ll try this  Thanks

I just have the Elements version which came with my Maschine and I didn’t find anything similar :unamused:
But also thanks!

Anyone else?

This isn’t going to be what you want to hear, but have you thought about learning to play bass? What I’m hearing is insanely simple.

It’s been a long time since I started playing guitar, so maybe I’m off on the timing…but it sounds like the stuff you could do with a couple weeks of lessons, a $250 starter bass, and some basic processing that your DAW would have. Or if you have an audio interface with a high-Z instrument input, maybe you could find a friend to just play bass for you. I’d offer, but IHNFC where my bass got off to. It kinda became mine after a friend quit and I might have lost it in a move.

I haven’t heard a synth or sample that really sounded like sliding on bass or guitar strings, though. Pitchbend and volume automation kinda sounds like doing it on fretless, but if you actually want that sound……the easiest way to get it would be to learn to play bass.

You won’t believe me, but I’ve really thought about this too

Yes, you’re right, I also think that it will be the easiest way to get that sound and additionally I’ll learn something about music theory which I really have to do

The only problem right now is that I don’t have money neither for a guitar nor for lessons as I’m still going to school and I just have a small job :stuck_out_tongue: So I’ll have to wait and save some money, but thanks for the tip!

Your school probably has people willing to teach you basics in exchange for (at most) beer, and you can get a bass capable of recording that for about $100.

Also, if you’re in school, finding a bassist shouldn’t be too difficult……as long as you’ve got the audio interface (with a high-impedance input) and are willing to learn.

That is a muted guitar playing at 2:06 and on…

Spectrasonics Trillian is a very good bass guitar VST.

Native Instruments has some good libraries for Kontakt as well.

But like already mentioned, you can get a cheap guitar cheaper that these above mentioned sample libraries (that is you don’t have Kontakt). If you do, then the Native Instruments ones are not bad.

If not, find someone with a guitar and record them.

I don’t have the audio interface at the moment, but yeah, this should be no problem

The vst is too expensive, so I’ll probably just purchase a cheaper guitar
