bitwig, how is it

bitwig, how is it

how are the beta testers finding it?

Bump. I’m not sure if any testers will even read this but one can hope

Edit: Well maybe it isn’t so far out of the realm of possibility. Oh me of little faith

Not that many beta testers. I’m sure there’s a reason why. No initial AU support was the biggest reason I will stay away from Bitwig until it’s a first class DAW.

Well, as long as VSTs are supported, AUs don’t matter that much to me.

There are many plug-ins and SW synths on the Mac platform that are shipped as AU only.

I’m with you there. I have a bunch of AU versions but they never get used.

Same here. Tekki didn’t you get a green light for the beta?

I’m very interested in this DAW… I hope someone out there knows something…

I wish I got it… For now I have to do with questions I can ask directly at one of the Bitwig Studios guys. :disappointed:

Bummer. Well here’s a bump so hopefully someone with a key can chime in!

It’s pretty bad.
The GUI is far from being anything that can be called a finished product. Lots of bugs, cpu drain like a mafakka.
I will def. not be spending any money on this. The ONLY plus with it is that it comes for Linux too, but tbh I’d rather use Reaper than this POS DAW.

For the record, I have 15 years of experience using Cubase, FL Studio, Reason and Ableton+.

That’s too bad. Sounds like the ‘hype’ talk was bigger than their walk. That’s too bad… as I don’t like LIVE, but love some of it’s features… hoping this would be a nice blend of Cubase and Live that I gelled with.

It’s like cubase in that everything takes 4 more mouse clicks than is really necessary. And like LIVE in that the gui is freakin horrible and clumsily designed. Sounds tempting? :stuck_out_tongue:

How so? Like what about Ableton makes it clumsily designed & horrible? I’m not trying to fight, just simply trying to appreciate your point of view, especially since I use Ableton and find it a pleasure to work with. Granted my experience with other DAWs such as FL and what not is pretty limited.

I find the browser system to be beyond moronic. And the mixer channels are at the bottom of the screen in a vertical fashion, and instead of having a clickable name to the effect it’s always there, so if you do “crazy” 10-20 fx chains, like I often do, you’ll have to minimize and dig everytime you need to change a tiny parameter. Don’t get me wrong, Ableton is a fine piece of software, and it’s capable of doing some pretty incredible things. it’s just that there are a few design flaws that still havemt been fixed.
Oh and automation. Better than in cubase, but far from being as brilliant as on FL Studio.

No macros?

@snoemu5a now im not going to start a war of words here as I feel your comments are immature and of a troll nature - & from your writing you are someone who may well of had no experience of the beta at all.

I am actually a registered beta tester and whilst I cannot and will not comment any further on what you have written, I will say this - you are incorrect and you know nothing other than what you have seen on the bitwig website (as described in your posts).

For those looking for more information on Bitwig Studio and how it is progressing, here at Bitwig Beats (unofficial community) we will keep all updated with the actual facts when we can…

No AU support which is a big no-no for me. Any decent DAW should support AU on the Mac platform.

This is where I stopped reading and caring…

Seems you haven’t even taken time to press the tab key or the onscreen icon where you can go from clip view to switch to session/timelined view.
(Or other icons with which you can switch visual elements on and off)

I do have experience with FL Studio/Cubase/Ableton/Reason/Rebirth/Mix Meister/Renoise/Fast Tracker/Rave-O-Lution creator, this adds up to more than 15 years of experience.
Not that I’m comparing ePenis though!

I still have not seen any added value of FruityLoops’ automation extras.
Automations still have not gotten to the point that I desired on having, and was not able to automate on Ableton.

If and when the Bitwig automation is the same as Ableton, I’d be more than content and confident in using it.

To be honest the OP is asking for beta user experiences, I for one find Steve James his conclusions more solid to go by than yours.

Sorry if this seems like a kick in the grill snoemu5a, but this is my opinion and I mean no offense to you.
