Made this guy a while back and have been sitting on the design. Trying to get my dj business off the ground this year. What are your thoughts on this design?
Honestly, it’s tacky. Both the speaker and level meter lights are very very very stereotypical. And that curve going across the card doesn’t seem to have any purpose besides taking up space. I think you should redo the card completely- something that is more personal and unique to YOU. Because as it is right now, anyone who knows what a DJ does could have designed this card. Don’t be lazy with this- take as much time as you need to get it right.
Get rid of the background lever meter lights
Get rid of the curve
Do a solid color background.
Get rid of the text on the bottom right. It is redundant information.
Either keep the speaker, or change it to a record.
Do you offer sound and lighting services separate from you DJ services i.e., just go set up a sound system for someone, or uplighting for an event you are not DJ’ing? If not, remove that as well. Some of your potential clients will ask about your lights and sound system, it forces them to contact you… whereas it gives you a chance to speak to them personally and gives you a chance to sell your services.
Thanks for the replies, I do offer sound and light services separate from Dj stuff.
Was trying to come up with a simpler design but have kind of hit a brick wall with trying to design something no one else has, which is ultimately what I want.
I like simple, but this one i thought would grab your attention a little more. I like the idea of a dark background, and The white text and silver would show up good.
I’ll look around online at some clipart and see what i can come up with. Keep the replies coming.
I agree with it begin stereotypical, i do want something that is not like another dj business card. I did the same thing with my lawn service business card, I designed something from scratch and it has worked good so people know who it is and associate me with that name.
Not so long ago, i saw a vid from Brian S redd, about business cards and he made a good point. get a photograph from yourself on the card, it sounds maybe tacky, but the tought behind it is good, a lot of cards are being handed out, so lets say a promoter, they get a lot of cards, if you made a impression he will be remembered who you are by seeing your face on the card.
Other thing you could make different cards for different services, like wedding dj specialist, club dj, mobile dj so you hand the right card to the right client. So you stand out for that special search your client has.
I did watch that video and thought the idea was really cool. Not sure about the different cards, i already carry some in my wallet for my lawn service, and having triple that would be a lot to have on hand.
I’ll play around with another design tonight and see where i start going with it.
As for “paper” go with a silk finish and spot UV or silver foil lettering. It’s going to be expensive, but it will be a kick ass card.
My header (just the horizontal part with my company name) is spot UV on silk (the name of the paper)
It cost me a ton of money, but people always compliment me and remember me with my business card… and talent of course.
Much better design. Get rid of the text on the bottom right. Events & parties is the same thing in our world. You also have the same information right under your header.
