Buying Tracks

Buying Tracks

How do you guys go about it?

Beatport, Traxsource, iTunes, and emusic are my main ones. I’ll use Juno some, but the exchange rate keeps me from using them a lot.

I like beatport myself for finding trance tracks still kinda unsure on what to choose sooo many tracks, I love the more upbeat tracks

traxsource is my personal favourite, love the promo’s

I used to use beatport exclusively, but my new go to is www.satelliterecords.com. They helped shape the EDM community on the east coast in the begining, and they just came back with digital downloads after a few years away. Aside from the personal reasons of liking them, they really are a kick ass site too. Their player is leaps and bounds better than the beatport player.

AWESOME THANKS!!! I like how i can preview multiple areas of a song and not just the breakdown like on beatport also the audio quality is better:sunglasses:

Although I’m a fan of beatport, it can get a little pricey, so what you can do sometimes is find a song on beatport and search for it on iTunes. A $2.50 purchase just turned into .99c This doesn’t sound like much until you have a cart full of beatport tracks each worth $2.50. 10 tracks for $25 or 10 tracks for $10 do the math. I know the quality on beatport is the difference but I’m fine with the quality of iTunes stuff.

I frequent all of those sites but wanted to give a little love to 7digital.

320K bitrates and great prices.

This is another thing I have started doing recently as well. Some people might have a problem with this, but I don’t seeing as the artist gets paid.

Anyways…

www.amazon.com They only sell 256K bitrate mp3s, however they have a huge collection! And what I have found is that for some songs they are the only site that has them. So I find the 320K version to download and then buy it on Amazon.

Have to support those artists!

Enjoy man! You’re supporting good people over at Satellite.

lol you cheater =p but does sound interesting.

So if Amazon is the only place the song is available and it’s only available from them at 256 where did the blog get the 320 version? I guess the could have gone out and bought the CD, but I doubt that’s the case in most cases. My guess is that you’re lucky if it’s a 256 and not something worse that’s just been run through Audacity to make it 320. We all know how well that works.

There are some blogs out there that get their stuff from beatport and whatnot.

Well the point he made in justifying it was that it wasn’t available as a legal download at 320 so he bought it at 256 and downloaded it from a blog. My point was, in short, I doubt that blog’s 320 is actually a 320.

This site is great, thanks for the link. Trackitdown looks pretty good too. I sometimes hit turntablelab.com which has a nice digital store (and I used to buy vinyl from them religiously). More often than not though I feed my addictions through amazon, emusic, and juno. I can’t stand beatport but sometimes it’s the only place to find things.

Don’t forget the raw new talent that is available on Soundcloud.

Ever try a DJ pool? I just subscribed to one - hopefully it’ll save me a lot of money.
