How much do you keep up with the developments in new technology, like new models of CDJs? Are those advances something that interest you?
Yeah, always. I’m actually working on something with Native Instruments at the moment, having a new mixer incorporated on Traktor, on which I play quite a lot. So I’m always up for what the future holds. I don’t think half the times it’s relevant, because people just want you to play on the ones and twos, but if you can create something unique within the element of what you do, I think that’s quite fun. And if you’re having fun with what you’re creating, that will show, and I think people need to have the tools to enable them to be creative.
So is he talking about the S8 or might this be the Z4 that so many people have asked for?
It has no channels and 1 crossfader.
It has 16 outputs but no inputs.
It has one big button that is mapped to ‘STOP’ and the mapping is default and not editable.

Mmm, I thought it was typical of my usual goofing. I guess you mean cus it’s NI related - which is fair enough but it’s not a leak, it’s just a good speculation story. I’m happy to have fun with these things. It’s leaks that I cannot stomach and that’s because of my own sense of fair play and not for anything more sinister than that.

I’m pretty sure they are busting out a Z4, since he likes to mix with 4 decks and I haven’t really seen him use a F1, I’m pretty certain they are working on a 4 channel standalone mixer :O.

But they aren’t sponsored by NI and signed to NDA - and more importantly, Carl Cox isn’t a c**t. He’s a lovely guy.
Might have been part of the NI drip feed. Who knows, time will tell.
Z4 is a good candidate, a lot of people have been asking for one (myself included). I’ll keep hoping for either a X2 or an additional controller for misc. options that aren’t available on the X1, F1 or Z1.
