I am doing a bit of market research for my company and I was wondering if you could help me out…
What I would like to know is which controllers you guys use. Simples!
So if you could just reply with the name of the controller and or controllers that would be amazing.
If anyone has any sales figures for the total amount sold of any of these controllers as well that would be awesome, I know obviously its quite sensitive information so you could PM me.
I work for the Ministry of Sound in London, specifically for the DJ academy, we are just gauging how widespread the popularity of Midi controllers are. I thought DJTT was probably a great place to start!
Wow, I think you’re in for a challenge. There is no “industry standard” at this point for midi controllers in my opinion. I mean, you’ve probably got Technics 1200s, DJM800s, and CDJ1000/2000s for the academy, but what on earth will you do for a midi controller? There’s a million of them and they all seem to work in very different ways. A NS7 works differently from a VCI-100, from an APC40, etc.
Good luck!
My vote would probably be to start with a few APC40s since they are 100% different from using turntables or CDJs.
I completely understand what you are saying! We are in the very early processes of thinking about maybe doing a controllerism course. I myself have an APC 40 and we run an Ableton course with the launchpads.
If we do this course we will probably incorporate a number of controllers so I am just trying to see which ones are the most popular.
On a slightly separate note, we have a discount code running at 20% off for the summer, if anyone is interested pm me and I can sort you out.
Just missed out tonight I am having a private 1 on 1 with a guy who teaches Ableton actually coming to me house to teach it, for production rather than the dj side, I do all my mixing on Traktor Pro with my Xone 4D.
no this guy I have searching around trying to change my diary to try and fit this in, was in my mates studio producing stuff, but he is now moving out of London so that’s stopped which means I can now finally get down to learning properly, can’t wait to be honest.
