what do you think. this is 8kg mate ![]()
Destroys the Uberstand.
Lots of reviews say the Uberstand is not stable.
I could hold an Xone 42 on my Crane stand without issue.
Crane is where it’s at.
Crane regardless of what country it’s made in.
Anyone used it with a 17" Macbook Pro?
does your macbook pro weigh 8kg? i have a 16" acer
Yep - it works well.
Crane pro is legit for macbook 17. It has the moutain bike quick release for easy and stable adjustment locking.
word
I’m getting one for sure!
A small amount of lube (I used GT85) does wonders for the adjustable joints on the Crane Pro.
That picture is amazing lol take my money crane!
Just bought two crane stand for half the price at amazon.com:
Amazon.com: Ultimate Support JamStands LPT200 Two-Tier Laptop/DJ Stand : - None -: Musical Instruments
from $120 to $62
They are coming to Brazil with a friend who’s working at Las Vegas ![]()
The picture shows the Pro model though, you just bought the Standard model which usually goes for $65-80, not the $120 Amazon advertises. The Standard only has one position, whereas the Pro can bend to any position. But the Pro is still $150…
Crane or gtfo!
I bought the standard for about 40 shipped I think. Maybe even less.
150 is too much for the Pro IMO.
I really like Crane Stand Pro, and it’s been stable every time I’ve used it as long as I clamped down the hinges tight. I’ve never had a tipping problem, but I suppose you could tip it over if you didn’t have something under it (like a controller) to keep the leg from moving. Unlike the Stanton Uberstand, the whole stand will have to tip at once (if it tips), the hinges don’t move unless you unlock them so it stays one solid unit until you unlock the hinges. UDG just announced a laptop stand called the “Creator” and it has all the features of a Crane Stand Pro, plus the extra added feature of a height adjuster (like a mic stand). I imagine it’s not as stable (it’s free to swivel left and right) even though it has two (same-side facing) feet. It’s also $20 more… which might be worth the price if you’re looking for the ability to change the height by a couple of inches or swivel the stand a little bit. I haven’t noticed any need for this, but you might.
It is too much, but they can get away with it because the Pro is superior to any laptop stand out there. They’re all either flimsy or not height-adjustable, and I wasn’t planning on putting my 17" MBP on something flimsy, so I finally caved.
Actually, it looks like the Crane Stand Plus (CV3) was just released, seems the same as the Pro but without a subtray, and more color options. Goes for about $80, sounds like a great deal if you don’t care about the subtray.
How good can a STAND actually be??? It just HOLDS a laptop.
I’m more than happy with my Magma (£20!) stand, and by Uberstand (Uberstands are ALSO overpriced - but not to the extent of the Crane Stand).
A lot of people say the Uberstand tips over easily, unless you tie it down with a strap. Sorry, but I just don’t trust a stand that has such a design flaw. I’d like to not have to worry about my $2500 laptop falling and damaging.
And I actually liked the Magma (and all the copies of it) at first, but I think having to screw it apart for gigs constantly eventually put me off. Also finding the proper height-adjustable version (Odyssey LSTAND Mobile) was difficult in Europe, although I see you’re from the UK so maybe you did find a good deal.
I got an awesome stand from Maplins - can’t remember the actual brand, but it was the same model as the magma adjustable height, with a shelf for an audio interface.
£25.
