Digital mixers vs analog mixers, pros and cons

Digital mixers vs analog mixers, pros and cons

Hello everyone, I’m thinking of buying a digital mixer instead of an analog mixer.
What are the pros/cons?
I’m a scratch Dj, and I’m afraid the crossfader isn’t going to react as fast as on an analog mixer, or is this just a bad thought?
I’ve also been looking at a small amount of digital mixers, and I saw the Behringer NOX series, are these good mixers (because I’m not a Behringer lover!).
Help me out!

Search the forums mate, this has already been discussed

For accurate scratching you probably won’t find anything better than an analogue mixer. I have heard good things about the NOX series.

..but they’re not released till q2 maybe q3 so it depends on how long you are willing to wait.

And, pre-empting your next response:

<>Innofader mod<>.

Are their any mixers specifically you’re looking at?

There will always be latency in a digital system. So, yes, there will always be a delay between when you click open a fader and when the audio actually starts being audible.

But it’s really fast…like…I’d bet you money you couldn’t tell whether a mixer was analog or digital based on how the fader responds.

In short: don’t worry about it.

And Behringer kinda makes crap. They’ve supposedly been getting better, but if you’re honestly wondering about the quality of the NOX mixers instead of just getting a battle mixer, you really shouldn’t be worrying about the finer points of digital vs. analog.

All you need to know is that digital and analog distortion sound different…they both sound like crap…stay out of the red and the difference doesn’t matter.

hahaha read my mind :stuck_out_tongue:

Nope

Hmm.. maybe, but I hate plastic potmeters.
I’ve got an Akiyama MCX with rubber pots, can they fit on the ddm4k?

Thanks for all the usefull tips and info guys!

yeah. theres knobs of all kinds you can find. the DJTT store has some, or just go into a nearby electronic parts store.
