Hi, i just got my hands on a Vestax DFG-X2 and i was wondering if someone could help me figure out how to ise it with a xone 92!! Its supposed to run on the master out of the mixer, but honestly i cant seem to figure it out!
Master out goes to whatever system/speakers you’re plugged into. You are simply adding a 3 band isolator as a pass through into that schematic. Not trying to sound condescending bud but how difficult can that be? Or maybe I misunderstand you and do apologize if so.
Oh that’s simply bud! just look at your nearest Radio Shack or monoprice.com and get XLR to RCA jacks. I keep some in my gig bag for the local dive bars with wonky main boards.
give me a few and i’ll post a link for what you need.
I’d honestly ask why you want to put a $100ish unbalanced isolator on the balanced master output of a $1500 DJ mixer that is praised for it’s sound quality and character.
I also have a xone92. It’s a pain in the bitch to use effects the way I want them setup. I purchased two different isolation units and attached them between my source and the mixer. The setup looks rather sick now, and I can PFL effects. Otherwise, another great way to use an isolator is the old school, between mixer to amp. Either way, that is a sick isolation unit. What do you mix?
Sorry for the late response guys!! I just got it working and tbh i think its kind of neat to be able to alter some frequencies with this baby! Also when you use it with the 92 filters its awsome!! But i really do get your point! Maybe some day ill drop some $$ for a real one!!!
Don’t really get why ppl hounded you over adding an isolator on master. I used a 92 for a while and did all kinds of crazy send/return, pedal FX on master etc…
Don’t worry, I get the draw of isolators. I just wondered about always running his sound through it. Maybe it’s good enough. But vestax hasn’t had the reputation they used to for a while now.
Valid question. However when I got my hands on an EFX1000 I actually had to run the Master from the DB4 through it just to mess around (lack of Send/Return on DB4) and the Isolator as well as some of the FX worked nicely on top of the mix combined with the filters. The overall effect allowed me to kinda sum the mix with some tension which made taking out vocals and mids from the EQ sooo smooth and bring in another bass line in the background for a drop. Hope I explained it well :\ but it’s not something I see myself incorporating full time.
Basically house, deep house some nu disco!!! I do long mixes and emphasize on the blend!!! Thats why i wanna try messing around with isolators! What kind of units do you have??
But, yeah…the effects routing on the 92 is weird. I don’t blame the OP for wanting to do it. I just don’t quite get the draw when you’ve already got filters and channel EQs at least not with that unit. I don’t see what it adds.
