Well i am a dj because i love music and like to show that passion to other people with my mixes. Just because i dont do live scratching routines (because i have bearly heard any that really sounded great) doesnt mean i’m not a dj. Djing is a form of art and can be done however one likes it, if you like these routines, go for it, ill stick to my style.
yeah from what i can tell it looks like he just using the mapped first 4 slots. and possibley the drum kit he has on deck D first 4 slots and mapped as well…
Then looks like z2 is mapped to same aswell and cue points.
i could only hope its unlocked for remix decks but from watching it twice didnt look like it…
if you watch it on the youtube channel int he description IT QUITE CLEARLY STATES remix decks. So either the Z2, or of course FAR more likely is the Maschine is controlling remix decks. I’m pretty sure i remember reading something from an insider interview promising that the v2 software for Maschine (1.8 being the latest) was going to be something very special. Perhaps remix deck control is that ‘specialness’.
if so im deff selling my F1 for the mk2.

i think its like that with any form of music/art. i recently fell in love with deep house, but a few years ago if you showed me a deep house track, I would dismiss it as a boring collection of clicks and pops. it really just comes down to what your into. because of that i can see where the nay sayers are coming from, even though i really enjoyed the routine. that being said for a site dedicated to creative djing we are awfully unsupportive of it 
My guess is that he was likely just using the maschine software, although if anyone has access to controlling remix decks with the maschine it would shiftee.

I don’t know if its ‘hip hop’ that was alot of styles haha…one could contest 8bit lol.
I tend to agree with alot of the ppl here…it was alot of sounds, shiftee probably get bored with simple routines and wants to push himself just like all of us…the only problem is that there only so much frequency to put sounds so sometimes it gets cluttered. I prefer this routine by shiftee but its not nearly as complex. He probably feels that he has to use alot of features since NI is paying him, all those features just result in more sounds.
I’m not normally one for being this blunt but I actually agree with you here. It’s one thing to give your opinion on this style of performance or genre of music. I’m firmly in the ‘HATE this’ category. Actually if I was in a club and someone started doing this it would make me want to repeatedly puch myself in the ears!! However, if you want to question someone’s skills (and let’s admit this dudes got skills) then you better bring something to the table that shows you are qualified enough to question!
I think Maschine control of Remix decks is a logical (and very savvy business wise) progression. The F1 is launched. Done and Dusted. The majority of those that existed in the market (pre to it existing) will have bought one already. Obviously it will still sell, but now only as more folk with an interest in DJing come onto the scene. Also with several software hacks around already for remix deck control AND NIs original promise of within time opening it up to other hardware this just makes sense, considering Maschine is also their hardware. This will have the double benefit of not only encouraging a few more onto the Traktor platform (or maintaining their patronage) in the face of Seratos new release and the accompanying hardware (pad) support, the pioneer SSX, et al, but it will also be a shot in the arm to Maschine MkII sales, encouraging new buyers to get a Maschine “hey kids! Not only does it do all the cool stuff it did before BUT NOW also controls REMIX DECKS! WOOHOO!”, and on top of that if they limit remix deck control to the MKIIs and hold it back from the MKIs, others with a MKI may well upgrade to a MKII. Bearing all this in mind NI would be bat shit f***ing crazy NOT to incorporate Remix Deck control into the Maschine. Just my 2 cents. 
I spoke to NI reps (and shiftee) at BPM and they said they “would love to” implement remix deck control on the maschine. That’s not a guarantee, but it’s nice to know it’s on their radar.
On the subject of the performance, people seem to be totally misunderstanding the idea. No, you wouldn’t want to go to a club and see that kind of thing for 3 hours, but that’s not the point. It’s a video purely aimed at DJs to show off what the NI software and hardware can do in the right hands. Low latency, lots going on, remix decks, effects running on multiple decks, timecode and all that. It’s a showcase. I’ve seen shiftee and other scratch DJs doing sets of an hour or longer and of course they don’t just button mash and beat juggle for an hour. They play songs and use those techniques for transitions. It wouldn’t work for deep house but it’s not supposed to!
Finally, someone on here “gets” it!
You people need to chill out. Someone doesn’t like the way it sounds, who cares!! And just because someone can’t do something similar doesn’t mean they don’t have a right to be critical about it. If it wasn’t for armchair critics the internet would have died in 1995.
And if it weren’t for people calling out armchair critics it’d be nothing but!
Oh yeah? I would like to see you post a critique of someone being critical of something as if it were critical to the existence of the human race in a critical way.
