DJ Sound Control computer mod

DJ Sound Control computer mod

Holy guacamole,

Chris Blarsky, an avid Traktor-user, built that AIO DJ Pc within 4 months. It comes at a size of 23 inch.

What do you say? yay or nay?

IMHO It looks dope but I change my gear like my underwear so I wouldn’t like being tied to one piece of gear (although there are enough usb-ports for additional hardware). It is also too big. I see the future of DJing in integrated solutions).

I wondered if anybody would notice this on Engadget.
If you are in New York City tomorrow, it will be on display at a Lenovo event.

Once I get it back, I will produce a couple of Youtube vids showing it off.
Anyway, what do you guys think?

You did this, Chris? Amazing work.

I just sent you a mail through your slow ass page.

What did it cost alltogether?

Yeah, my server is getting the $h!t beat out of it right now.
I have not sat down to think about how much it cost.
I will get back to you soon with the figure.

What feature do you like the most/least?

Labor

960 hours
For the sake of reasonable cost let’s say I would
only charge $20.00 an hour, which realistically it
would be closer to double that.
Roughly at $20.00 an hour $19,200

Total cost $22,460

I actually have it insured for $35,000 while Lenovo is using it.
Then they will ship it back.

Gear of the Future: Integrated Laptop + Controller

I can’t remember exactly where, but I believe it was in the “DJing 15 years from now” thread that Photojojo commented about an integrated laptop and mixer.
Well, here it is! I just stumbled on this a few minutes ago. I’m not too convinced but thought I’d share it with you guys anyways:

Its a nice piece of kit  check out the price to build

It’s pretty cool… the only problem is I don’t feel particularly limited right now w/ a laptop and a small controller. Truth be told, I think they’re all kind of big to be playing in small clubs. Can never make up my mind so I just take CDs and get drunk.

Pretty cool, not really what I have in my head, but it’s a start.

Every journey begins with a single step. You could totally fit most of the components of a novation twitch (for example) into a case the size of a 17" macbook pro. They’d have to be thinner, but who knows.

However, a question: are laptops still the future of portable computing?

Thread with the guy who made it involved. Turns out he’s a DJTT member.

I approve of this innovation - I love when people get crazy creative like this.

Did we not see some pics of this while it was in plan phase?

There were like 6 pics, all with a different colour tint?

The logs had the exact same splatter type pattern.

anyways…congrats in following through and completing it. The finish looks really good bro!

holy shit!!! this is the most awesome mod ever!!! respect!!!

i saw it yesterday on engadget. was gonna post here about it but forgot. nice work deathstarchris.

This looks pretty briliant, but how does the keyboard and OS factor in, or is it exclusively for a dj software (Traktor, Dekadance, Serato, Ableton, VDJ, DJay) based OS?

Super clean looking. Amazing!

There’s a keyboard tray underneath apparently.

Elegant design and beautiful implementation. Should at least land you some job offers, if not in tech then in product design. Amazing job.
