DJkidMT setup

DJkidMT setup

evolution of my personal dj experience. Started with ableton and needed something more hands on and eventually spiralled to vinyl and DVS.

Xone 4d
Electrovoice Live X PA

Got some Numark tt200 decks

Had to get Technics. The numarks drift way way too much.

Replaced the 4d and 1200’s with a Rane 56s, Audio4Dj, MF Pro Beat Masher

needed a more efficient midi controller as i hate touching and staring at my computer when i play shows. the DJM-T1 is a very under-rated mixer you literally do not have to ever look at your computer. as with all pioneer stuff it lacks the warm soulful sound of Allen & Heath equipment. the DJM-t1 is way to practical is worth the minor loss in sound quality.

I dont think any-one ever said that, the main criticism of the mixer was that it was over-priced.

However, as you’ve gone and bought one, do you think it’s worth the cash? i think most people thought that an X1 plus conventional scratch mixer was better value…

its def worth the cash and you can get them under 1200 pretty easy

Fair nuff, however in Australia where I am, you’d be looking at $1700 for the DJM-T1. The maths is looking pretty average as you can build a similiar set-up with:

Mixer - (A&H Xone 22) - $450
Software control (Kontrol X1) - $250
Software & soundcard - (TSP2) - $700
Total: $1400

Pioneer DJM-T1 - $1700
TSP2 upgrade - $300
Total: $2000

(note: all prices in AUD)

I guess you pay for convenience though, as the DJM-T1 is an all in one, where as the alternative is moduluar - which is a pain to set up in a hurry, however the modular set-up means you can take it into a club.

Pros and cons to both I guess, as long as you’re happy with what you’ve got. Personally though, I’d spend the leftover $600 in music or more gear!

By golly man those speakers/subs are slight overkill aren’t they LOL
Have you blown many windows out???

OMGosh man! You got a DJM-t1 for under 1200??? I paid $1650 for Mine!! WTF! (Oh Canada…) Btw, Your 4D is still the main piece of my setups

miss that 4d ;.(

Needed a 4-channel mixer so i replaced the DJM-t1 with a DJM-900 nexus
and added two cdj-900’s. Also trying out the senny hd-25 ii headphones

Are you on timecode or just on the usb?

Did you have a fight between getting 900s and 2000s?

What was the deciding factor?

I am running via the usb. I went with the 900’s because of price. 2000’s didnt seem worth the extra cash, especially since the 900 have all the connectivity of the cdj-2000’s for hundreds less. the bigger screen would be nice but is completely unnecessary. The 900’s feel great and operate just as well.

is no one else experiencing this?? i guess i’ll go back to the basic built in one until someone can lend a hand.

to anyone who can/does, thanks in advance! =)

I know it’s moot at this point, but the DJM-T1 is a much better mixer than the xone:22, which is in no way worth 450CAD IMHO. And I’m saying that without even liking Pioneer mixers.

I think I have to disagree with you there, but I can’t fault you. The 900 platter just doesn’t feel quite right to me.

I think the deciding factor for me would be the 900 lacking cover art…cover art is about 50% of me not using CDJs anymore…with the other half being that I couldn’t afford anything better than CDJ-200s. Like…I used to burn singles and print out cover art slips. It got annoying.

Built a new Dj table today. I couldnt get any ikea stuff in montana, so i built my own and it actually cost quite a bit less about 140$ total 8 hours labor. the hardware store cut the paneling into all the pieces so all that was left do was to cut the curves, screw it together and sand! dimensions are 34" x 48" x 24". i used two 8’ x4’ birch 3/4’ ply for everything and a few angle brackets to hold it together.

here it is all setup

Killer setup, man. I almost upgraded from my DJM-800 to a 900nexus for use with my cdj2000s, but I think I’m going to go the DB4 route. Love the CDJs, though. Might pick up a 900 for some 3 deck action.

How do you like the EV package?
