Do you all know if there is any chance of a new Pioneer mixer coming out in the next year or so? I am about to pull the trigger on a DJM-900NXS, and I don’t want to drop the $2000.00 and a year later have an old model.
Nobody knows about pioneer products until about a week before they are available. Look at it this way… the DJM-800 was introduced in 2006 and is still relevant today. I doubt the 900 will have a replacement anytime soon, but you never know.
Probably, but most people who buy Pioneer products have more money than sense, so no doubt you’ll be spending another $2k on the 950 when it comes out anyway, regardless of what you buy now.
true but pioneer stuff retains their resale value, well at least over here in singapore, try buying any other brand and when you try to sell them you will lost a lot of money, pioneer gear are ALWAYS in demand so they are easier to sell later on when you wanna upgrade and you will still get a lot of money back
You make a good point, and the 800/850/900 all do basically the same stuff. Thanks!
Well good thing I’m not most people then.
I have yet to see substantial proof of that, and even if there was, I really like the 900NXS and the difference would have to be pretty huge seeing as it’s an extra $1300 to get the DB4.
a DB4 can be had for 2300 with free shipping, where are db4 $3300 (2k +1300)>? and secondly you can find a 900NXS for ~$1400 and yes then ther is a good price difference.
(these prices are mainly for US, so if your elsewhere my pricing wont be accurate)
yeah, i’ve seen b stock db4s go for about $2300 from pro audio star pretty consistently (also they charge $2900 for a new one). new djm 900 for about $1650+ on an occasional sale once or twice a year. not too much of a difference if you can’t find the 900 on sale.
Nope. The Behringer DJX900 is basically the same as the DJM900, and it’s - get this - £159.
The Behringer NOX606 is even better, and it’s… wait for it… £289.
And don’t even get me started on some of the Reloop gear like the RMX-40 I just bought, or the IQ2 MIDI.
EDIT: Before you start banging on about build quality, generally the first thing you hear from the management when you start playing a new venue around here is: “Oh we’ve got an ‘industry standard’ Pioneer DJM already in place for you… just be careful because channel 2 doesn’t work and the mid EQ knob on channel 3 is a bit crackly; oh, and headphone output seems to be distorted for some reason… ahhhh, you’ll work it out.”
I’ve got NO respect for Pioneer stuff whatsoever. Overpriced shite if you ask me.
If Behringer make the best mixers in the world for the lowest price why don’t all clubs use them then? And why don’t we all recommend them on here?
On the DJX900:
RCA output only. Booth, Master, Send+Return are all RCA..
No channel filters/FX
Despite being called “USB”, it only has a 2 channel interface, therefore useless for DJing.
Poor build quality - no surprises here.
Just search this forum for “DJX” if you want more reasons not to buy them.
You can hate on Pioneer as much as you like, yes their gear is overpriced, but at least argue your case with a company that builds quality gear. Rane, A+H, Vestax, Ecler are quality. Behringer and Reloop are not.
Point taken on the DJX900 not having balanced outputs, but it definitely has FX; as for the USB, I suppose you’d go for the NOX606 if that was your thing.
But wait, Reloop aren’t quality? Have you ever actually USED any of their products?
Let’s take the RMX-40 USB for example;
2 master output channels, one available as balanced XLRs and unbalanced RCAs; the other available as an unbalanced RCA (for booth monitor, etc)
Separate Rec output
Balanced 6.35mm jacks for Send/Return
2x2 + 2x2 USB audio interface (admittedly, it’s a little bit weird as the upstream USB1 is Channel 1, but USB2 is Master; downstream are Channels 1 and 2 (confused the hell out of me at first, but since I’m not a turntablist it’s not a big deal; USB2 is actually a godsend for recording mixes on the fly).
Two Mic inputs (XLR/jack combined as well as a separate rear jack)
Infinitely adjustable crossfader curve AND upfader curves, per channel
Momentary and latching EQ kills for each side of the crossfader
Just to nick in here, reloop stuff is pretty solid, dunno how long it could take a beating in a club though,
My experiences with Behringer have been pretty shit. my first was a behringer DX626, bought brand new, lasted a month before a channel had blown (plus no fader VU), then a DJX900 for a temp mixer while my DJM800 was away, i HATED it, build quality was crap, just a not very well put together mixer
