Hmm, sadly often true.
It used to be quite Good.
Now its just Shit.
Yeah, i like the the bit where you can see down the girls top a bit.
Me too. There’s nothing I enjoy more than a bit of side-boob.
dunno where you guys live (guess its the usa) but here in germany most of the crowd still looks like the crowd in the picture above. at least at the parties i´m attending…
That’s benga in the pink right?
So true.
@Xonetacular: Looks like it could be Benga… on that note Skream & Benga need to get their shit together and get back to the true dub… apparently Skream said “Sonny’s my boy” in an interview when asked about Skrillex. facepalm
Maybe it’s me being cynical but my gut feeling tells me a lot of big producers are very careful not to badmouth anyone else big in the electronic music scene as to not cause a bunch of drama or divide fans. I have to wonder if a lot of the people who publicly make comments supporting skrillex and the like actually have much respect for them.
Pretty much.
I was about to dismiss this thread as another shippost soon-to-be-flamewar type thing, and then I saw this really interesting and valuable comment. It really is curious, especially in the EDM world. I know in the metalcore world, there is constant rivalry and bands always take stabs at eachother, sometimes jokingly and sometimes with real aggression, but it leads to a very dynamic environment. I would hate to be a big name in EDM if i was constrained by social/economic pressure, and wasn’t able to say what I felt.
I challenge with this; which is worse? A sausage fest of guys standing around? Or a pilled up cluster fuck of teenagers trying too hard?
Fair point. I don’t particularly like Skrillex mainly cause his music is not to my taste in dubstep and a lot of where most of dubstep has gone with it’s sound can be partially blamed on him. That said, I do respect his abilities as a producer. DJ? Not so much, the man can certainly run a crowd and keep them entertained but he doesn’t mix very well. When you look at the music Skream was making versus the stuff he’s making now it’s easy to be disappointed by the drop in quality.
@Kyle_G: and what exactly is wrong with a bunch of guys having a good time by standing / sitting around and enjoying some quality music? Also in most places those pills are illegal. So, technically, that’s just one of the things wrong with the cluster fuck.
Hahhaaha, yeah good point!
I thought the bottom pic was better ![]()
more chance of a happy ending.
still good bass music being made and good parties being put on. Just have to avoid the lowest common denominator shit. Its like anything, something a bit different gets popular, every man and his dog copies a sound and there appears to be nothing but ear raping ass sounds being made, but there is still good stuff around. You just have to spend the time looking and talking to the right folks.
Not that I particularly like Skrillex’ style, he’s still a good producer.
There are indeed a lot of dubstep producers unknown, but they sometimes have better tunes than most well-known producers around, you just have to look for em
I don’t think skrillex is a good producer. Its music by fucking numbers. Nothing new, nothing innovative, nothing risky. I also think the whole “live” show he does is a horrible horrible fraudulent bunch of shit.
For a genre that was all about future beats with your kode 9’s etc, the mainstream face of things is so far from its origins it isnt funny. BUT, there is always hope when there are producers like rustie and shackleton and on a more mainstream front, James Blake and SBTRKT making stellar music.
