Free TRAKTOR PRO 2.7.0 update available now!!

Blergh, it appears that 2.7 has broken ALAC support. Heres my post on the NI forum, can anyone else please test and confirm:

Ive just tested 2.68 and 2.7 side by side on the same computer, with the same collection.

2.7 is broken with normal 16 bit ALAC files.

Almost %80 of my collection is ALAC lols.

They play perfectly in 2.6.8, and not at all in 2.7. In 2.7 they report the “unsupported or broken file” message.

Ive already updated quicktime.

Can someone confirm please?

THIS IS INCORRECT.

There is no need to uninstall anything.

Just navigate to your folder Applications folder: Native Instruments>Backup and hit the last icon/exe that worked for you. Your installation previous to 2.7.0 will start up and you are back to where you where before installing 2.7.0.

Well, that’s really good to know. If I added any tracks in 2.7, will they still be there if I go back to 2.6, or will I have to rescan my library?

No the newly added tracks won’t be in the previous build.
You can just copy over the ‘collection.nml’ from the 2.7.0 folder and replace the the 2.6.8 collection with it (back up the 2.6.8 collection first). This will give you all the tracks, playlists etc that you made in 2.7.0

Traktor will have to read the tags and create new stripes for these tracks but it’s easier than copying over the whole ‘Stripes’ ‘Transients’ folders.

Remember that the ‘History’ in 2.6.8 will not have been updated but you can easily just copy and paste any new history playlists from 2.7 to the 2.6 History folder.

Anyone finding the Slicer’s attack to be off? It’s fine if the track is stopped but while the track is playing it’s missing the attack of the slices. Only way i’ve found to remedy this is to have quantize on.

The brightness/dim lcd problem is a royal pain in the ass. Even at the lowest setting, it’s still not that much different than the highest setting. On a S4(mk1) it’s hard to tell which efx are on and which aren’t..and just about every other button as well.

Another thing I noticed is when you save a loop the cue button stays blue and doesn’t turn green to indicate it’s a loop. I don’t know if that’s just a cosmetic thing, but it was nice to see what was cued and what was a loop just on a quick glance down.

If it takes you longer than that, Id suggest you hold off updating in future until the kinks are worked out.

You always have to assume new updates will break everything, and be prepared for that eventuality with backups.

Traktor takes less than 5 minutes to restore to a working backup version if youre organised.

in osx, the update is installed in parallel, so the older versions are always available in seconds…they’re kept in the Traktor backup folder

PS This update brings new life to Denon S3700 users - it appears they now can use Hybrid (HID-like) mode on their players

I’m going to load it on another machine later this week, when I get time. 'Love to know if the hybrid timecode issue has been resolved. My 2900s in hybrid mode get the “low signal” red flashing banner. Hence, I’m still on 2.6.1

If everything works fine you despite the banner you can remove the banner in settings…

The way I read it is that it comes pre-Master, from the same source as Master. This is a dang awesome thing, IMO, because in the past I have to turn Master down on some sound systems, and I have to turn Record up to make up for it… and I have to remember to do it.

Yes… I have noticed the same issue. It appears to be triggering the next slice at the same point the previous one stopped playing. So if you were half way through the first slice and triggered another slice it would start that next slice half way through. Honestly I could barely get a basic kick snare pattern to sound decent with the song not playing. If I tried to do the same thing with the song playing, it sounded as though I was missing the snare hit or the kick drum every time.

Got the same problem on my S2mk1. Did anyone also get the message to update the controllers firmware? Did the firmware update solve the LED Brightness problems?

The LED issue has been noted. It is a bug and is being worked on right now.

I’ve noticed that if you use the freeze mode & have the loop function active, the slices are more accurate.

I also got the LED Off-State-Brightness Issues on my S2mk1.
Traktor offers me a firmware update for the controller. Did the Update solve the LED-Problem for anybody?

Yes that was my experience with it as well. Pretty bummed this was a feature I was really looking forward to. Hopefully a quick fix is in order.
