I think you misunderstood me. I am not asking Traktor to match Ableton’s sound features. I think Traktor does what it is meant to do better when it terms of sound production. What I am asking is Traktor to provide me an interface that allows me to leverage this audio technology in an ideal setup.
The fact that the way the FX slots, the master clock and recording panels are position result in wasted space while some of the above remains hidden is an example of the issues with the current interface. If my eyes are good, and I prefer to run Traktor in a 13" laptop, I should be able to see everything and if my eyes are bad, I want things to be big on a 17". I want to be able to use multi monitors too.
None of that has anything to do with turning Traktor into Ableton, side from the fact that Ableton does provide resizable panels and that their interface is fully vectorized. I used Ableton as an example, because most of us know this app, but I could have just as well named any other non audio app that supports this.
Yeah you are completely correct in that . There is some screen ‘real estate’ being completely wasted at the moment which is where your suggestion of the UI being vectorised is totally valid.
I wasnt having a knock at your suggestions and i ran away with the Ableton thing… My bad.
The Traktor Header is badly designed. Of course this will change with 4 FX slots but with the way you worded it above i completely agree with. The borders are to thick. Some buttons are to big yet the LEDs (for EQ for example) are way to small.
I actually filed a Feature Request for “Moveable and Sizable Objects” back in the T3 days.
I think after 1.2 is released some of these things will be addressed . I will certainly be pushing for better use of space.
to be honest, the only thing i really want is the ablility to connect traktor and ableton without brain surgery. i wont do it at this point because of the annoyance level to get it to work properly. traktors built in effects (at least 3s) are not great i think. i would rather just have pioneers DJM mixer effects, which i use alot when i get on one to play.
when’s that coming out? I need to get mine updated.. I’m still running 1.1.1.001 - which I think is old is it not?
My mac already had Traktor on when I bought it (I used a PC before) but I need the serial key to update it, and that’s still with the previous owner.. I’ve got my version with serial key, but haven’t bothered to transfer it yet! (I’ve come to the sneaky suspicion that my mac version is a cracked copy, as the serial number doesn’t come up on the screen when I click on the ‘NI’ symbol.. can anyone confirm my suscpicions?)
The only number that comes up is the Build/Version Number.
If you have your own registered version you can look up your Reg number on the Support Section of the Website and and download the program from there. No need to transfer it from another computer.
If the one your using is a cr*ck get that shit off there cus you wont benefit from the 1.2 update which is awesome.
Version 1.2 Public Beta starts this week , hopefully (not 100%) on Friday.

Basically, I got the education edition of TSP when I had my PC laptop, which died on me completely. I then bought a macbook from eBay, which had a load of software already on (Adobe cs3, Logic, Office etc), and he happened to have TSP on there.
I had to redownload the service centre, but obviously its under the previous owner’s name (who’s completely fucked off on me, cos he listed the mac as being iLife 09 and adobe cs4, and I found out, and now he’s not replying to my emails!)
I emailed NI, and they said that I should have 2 uses on the education edition, but I haven’t got round to digging out the install disc etc and putting it on. But I guess I wouldn’t have to if I just register it under my name on this laptop? All i’d need would be MY serial number, am I right?
