Who thinks we’ll see Traktor Pro 3 soon?

I know updates are usually followed by a big sale but who thinks well see Traktor Pro 3 teasers in the next 3 months? And if we do what are you expecting? I have a hard time seeing NI drop video into Traktor, this would really clutter up the interface and I’m not sure where they can take the remix decks further. I also don’t think well ever see 3rd party plug in support as this is really asking for trouble (they can’t be responsible for program stability if people are loading various 3rd party plug ins) I feel like Maschine would play a bigger part in TP3 but this would also have to bring something to the table beyond playing loops, as this can already be accomplished with the remix decks. We could see some better midi out for sending to visual apps as Shiftees S4 had a modified traktor version for special midi out capabilities for the mostly robot shows.

What do you guys think, what would blow you away?

linking to ableton or maschine like Serato the Bridge. thats what i want to see.

I’m hoping for some sort of video plugin…it’s really all they have left in my opinion.

Direct integration with Maschine is all i want.

CDJ 850 HID integration.

I’m sick of waiting. Leaning more towards the thought that it’s never going to happen.

I want to see a much, much better mapping interface, possibly even with a mapping language/ API.

scamo

A version that works flawlessly, like 1.2.7 or 3.4

64 modifiers and 4 condition slots.

^This!!! 2 slots is too limiting

+1. Quit jacking with it and get it stable.

this +1000

I’ll still maintain my confidence in NI to provide this. Unless Traktor Pro 3 comes out before, in which case I will “cry evry tim” I use it lol

For those of you who have suggested Maschine integration, what do you see as being a killer feature or the best way to integrate it. I don’t think a bridge style setup is the answer.

As far as I can tell it seems like there is a very limited amount of people using the bridge to it’s full potential. I think NI got things right with the remix decks and streamlining that workflow, so i’m curious how they could integrate Maschine in a way that is very on the fly.

It’s also entirely possible Traktor Pro 3 could be a Snow Leopard style update, minimal on features with an emphasis on making the software very efficient.

Don’t think it will ever happen, but would like to see Traktor play nice with Rekordbox. Even minimal support for Rekordbox hotcues or something. NI and Pioneer may not be on great terms since the Z2 came out…or maybe they are since Traktor has HID compatibility with CDJs…

Anyway, I want to be able to have songs on my ipod and prepare them when I am out about doing random stuff waiting (e.g., Dr’s office, coffee shop etc.) and then have that work both on CDJs AND Traktor…

As a computer science guy, I like the idea of a mapping language a lot…specially if it allows the creation of user-made MacroFx etc. But I just don’t see NI going this route.

Better file management and smart palylists. iTunes is great, but it can be a problem when the integration does not work.

Variable tempos within a track, an Ableton Live-like warp feature, ability to handle time signatures other than 4/4, jogwheel effects presets out of the box (with ability to easily edit/create/save your own), more macro effects (with ability to edit/create/save your own)…

My guess is there won’t be another major update until there is a new major piece of hardware that directly utilizes the new features, and any major software changes will be tailored to that hardware. That seems to be the trend at least.

For me, in order of importance, it has to be

  1. A better, more intuitive mapping system. I don’t mean flexible, hell Traktor’s flexibility is amazing, but I mean the tediousness of mapping at some points, it could really do with some more copy and paste functions or auto-fill (say, you create a button responding to CC1, then one corresponding to CC8, then it autoamtically figures out to create buttons for cc2-cc7 to whatever parameters you were mapping… It’s hard to explain, but I think you can get what I’m trying to say. Haha)

  2. I think Maschine Mk 2’s coloured pad’s where a definite foreshadowing of future integration with Traktor. Which brings me into something I expect to see, clip editing/quanitizing (similar to Ableton) built into the remix decks.

  3. Also heavily hinted, macro effects, since they kind of exist already. But basically making one knob effect multiple effects parameters, which I think will go hand in hand with a “super knob” functionality, as DJTT call it. But these you can map yourself, not a couple of cheddary ones they think DJs need.

I think those three things will definitely find their way into Traktor soon, either in 2.7 or by 3. What I personally would like to see, is a way of handling varying tempos, with the surge of glitch-hop, complextro and trap, my library consists of a lot of songs that change tempo on the drop or after the break. I write it in the comments section, and then when I’m playing, I have to tap-tempo the beatgrid, and hope that I tap it accurately enough to keep my beatgrid neat, and then after I finish, I have to be aware the next time I play the song I need to re-beatgrid it.

Also I would like to see the option to change colours. That’d be a nice little aesthetic touch, which would kind of go with the rainbow pad theme they have in their current controllers.

But yeah, +1 here for maschine integration. I don’t have one, but everyday I hover over the buy button, tempted, because I do produce music and it looks like a fantastic addition, but Traktor-Maschine integration would probably make me break the mouse I’d buy it that fast.
