Headphones - are sol republics tracks HD any good for live performance?

Ive been using Beyer DT770s for the last year or so and yesterday my mate sat on them. I’m thinking about upgrading to a pair of HD 25-1 II’s or Sol Republic V10 track HD’s for durability. Seeing the Tracks are nearly a hundred bucks cheaper, are they any good?

Thanks in advanve

Not sure about the sound quality, but from what I can tell, the Sol headphones are not designed with DJ’s in mind. First, the ear cups look like they are fixed and can’t rotate…this makes it cumbersome to monitor/cue tracks in one ear. Also, the headphone cable is split so that it goes to both ear cups. Most “DJ” headphones are made so that the headphone cable only goes to one of the ear cups. This makes it easier to take them on and off and cue music on one ear without getting tangled with the cord.

All that being said, you don’t need “DJ” headphones to go out and DJ. You can DJ with any headphones. DJ-specific headphones are just designed to give you better sound isolation, easy to take on and off and cue tracks with, built tougher for the abuse they will experience such as sweat in your head/hair from playing all night, constant folding and crushing in your bag, replaceable cable as the original will break at some point…you get the picture.

i tested the sol headphones in local store last week and i´m pretty disappointed. sound is way to bassy and mid rangy. no highs at all.
since i´m having a small head i had problem with them fitting right on my head. also the insulation wasn´t the best. built quality is okay but i doubt that the phones won´t loosen from the “frame” over some time.
i found them to be pretty stylish but luckily i tried them first before buying them and i advise you guys to do the same thing.

these are pretty good, too.
