so my wife has been shopping my talents around it seems and now I have a job coming up on saturday. Basically I’m playing a private house party for some rich kids out here. Apparently they really like Deadmau5 and things of that nature and because I play some house I must be an electro dj. (actually I can’t stand the shit) but my first duty as a paid “performer” is to please the crowd so creative integrity goes out of the window. I spent about 30 dollars on beatport on various stuff today, but I got so sick of listening to clips of it all that I gave up. So I ask you all, let me know some of the big tunes, anthems, dancefloor killers, anything. Basically it seems they want to listen to the jersey shore sounding stuff. so whatever you want to recommend would help out. Thanks in advance yall. Just make sure it is all easily purchaseable (not a word I know) via beatport or whatever.
Disclaimer: These are just my suggestions so don’t take them as final!
So if they like Deadmau5 and the sort, definitely play the following:
Deadmau5 - Strobe (Club edit)
Deadmau5 - Ghosts 'N Stuff
Deadmau5 - Reward is Cheese
Deadmau5 & Kaskade - Move for Me
Deadmau5 is really easy to mix, so anything you get by him should be good for the night.
Arman Van Buuren - In And Out of Love
Benny Benassi - Satisfaction
Darude - Sandstorm
DJ Mangoo - Eurodancer
(Tune Up?) - Raver’s Fantasy
Eric Prydz - Call on Me
East Clubbers - Sextasy
Kaskade with Tiesto - Only You
Paul Van Dyk - For An Angle
Sidney Samson - Riverside
Zombie Nation - Kernkraft 400
If they dig some more trance elements in their electro music:
Tiesto - Traffic
Tiesto - Adagio for Strings
Tiesto - Elements of Life
The Daft Punk songs can probably work too…but I’d be careful if they really like house elements of music.
“If I had eight hours to chop down a tree, I’d spend six hours sharpening my ax”. Abraham Lincoln
There’s ONE gem. Now I hope you learned your lesson and will study labels whom sign obnoxious tiesto & Pauly D wannabe’s.
Grey Ghost is SICKK. Grum. Pance Party. Louis La Roche. Busy P. Videoband. Roy Davis Jr. Thomas Bangalter. Fukkk Offf. Bloody Beetroots. Boys Noise. Borgore. Benga. Black Noise. Duck Sauce. Alan Braxe. Axel Le Baron. Zeds Dead. Mustard Pimp. Cassius. SAVOY. Moulinex. The Phantom’s Revenge.
Do what… Not ready to play out? I’ve been djing since 96 and doing it “semi-pro” (because I’ve always had a real job, or been in the army) since 2000. I really just came to get some suggestions on good tracks because I really don’t enjoy the style enough to dig for anything. It’s just not my thing but my wife thinks that a straight beat is a straight beat and doesn’t know any better so she acted as a booking agent without consulting with me first. I promise, I will listen to everything that I plan on playing and get semi familiar with it all (set up cue points, hand bpm and key etc etc) I promise, I take this very seriously and if I would have known that it was an ‘electro’ (which isn’t really electro anymore but I digress) affair I would have turned it down. I’ll probably end up playing alot of house and prog and when I feel like getting a bit dirty I’ll drop some electro trance and breaks. I just want to be prepared for anything and that’s what the kids are into. Thanks for the track recommendation though, it is always appreciated

also like the fact you would have turned it down if you had known you had to play music you don’t really like… doing parties you don’t enjoy really takes the fun out of it.
I have to play all that top 40 crap, the stuff that is just all million different Genres, most of which dont mix with each other, you cant dance to it, and if Im honest, should never be played at a party. Im into Electro-house, Trance,House,Dubstep, Techno-house and a tiny bit of RNB, so it gets pretty boring when your playing Bruno mars at what 80 BPM?..
So my advice would be just to ask one of the kids to give you any and all of his favourite songs and then just fade them in and out, they probably wont know any better if their hiring someone who doesnt even like the Genre…
PS: What music are you actually into? I memeber reading somewhere on this site that if you dont like the music try and find a remix of it in your genre Like “Like a G6 - Cap’n’Hook remix” to me is better than the orginal so I can play it at a party and please me and the crowd
i did an electro mix last year, there’s some pretty good tracks on that ive been told lol.. take a look and a listen see what ya think, im sure if they like the deadmau5 they will like some of them on the mix
Drop Zeds Dead for me…I pretty much like alot of the music ppl posted so idk
Do alot of ppl on the forums listen to this music or just for doing ‘electro-house’ parties etc…
Gigi Barocco has some good stuff as far as remixes.

Some of benny benassi’s new stuff gets me moving

dizzee rascalz - bonkers
jack beats - get down
jan driver - tellyfoam

afrojack - take over control
lmfao - party rock
calvin harris - awooga
Like, there aren’t words enough to get across the intensity of the flames that I would burn that song and all involved in it being made and listened to.
