Being serious though, like Frank said, practice like you play, if you follow it to the tee, then that is exactly what you have to do. Build your own “mini-club”.
The neighbors might not like it too much though.

Stand to mix, sit to work out new tsi mappings. I mixed one set sitting down (in 20 years lol) for a bit and it was only because I had a broken leg and my cast went above my knee.
I stand DJing and producing. Basically my ass is my quality meter. If it aint movin then neither is the track/mix. I even stand to do the more tedious parts of production like sample cuts and sequencing.
Of course I sit all day at work so I actually like to get up on my feet. I could see someone on their feet all day want to give the dogs a break but I’d still probably go for a bar stool or something over slouching in front of the screen.
Standing up with a mini-strobe at head height to train myself for the constant camera flashes and crowd cheers looping on a spare channel to be prepared![]()
I get bored playing after an hour if I’m sitting down.
It varies depending on what room I’m in. If I’m in my bedroom then I’ll stand because the desk I use is high enough that I don’t have to bend my back to DJ.
If I’m DJing downstairs I will start off standing, then switch to sitting for a few songs because reaching down at the controls hurts my back if I do it for long periods
Basically DJ = Standing / Produce = Sitting
Ur at home, do what you want! I do both! Usually standing during a mix when i get back from the pub!
both. prefer to stand though
Cool answers. Looks like standing is most popular. ![]()

Has to be standing - could never be a sitter! Like to get into the music and that’s not ging to happen sat down.
you need to get yourself a couple of dancing girls. i may have to come round for a practice at yours to get in the zone ![]()
Standing for me. been using my s4 box on top of a desk to get a bit more height for now.
Standing all the way. Sitting down makes me feel like this guy:
I love that old guy. So creepy.
Lol, I couldn’t remember what it was called so I googled ‘crazy old DJ’ and robert was my proverbial mother’s brother.
I love this! My setup is in an alcove in my livingroom, I’ve got ikea LED lights under the table and always play in the dark standing. Same thing, feels like a booth. Pretty packed, I even have chords everywhere haha. Makes me feel like a DJ
Its not crucial, its just personal preference.
Ever seen Cassy play? She’s, imo, one of the best (female) techno DJ’s around and she just stands, extremely focussed on what she’s doing. Even her eyes move slowly from place to place, yet still her sets have so much energy!
Saw her live here;
OT:
Whatever I feel like tbh
better angles and sight lines to controls…not limited to reach of your arms…this isn’t the friggin space shuttle…get on your damn feet…
but then again..i wouldn’t mind finding a nice high bar chair for when i do want to sit at home…
to me its like playing guitar: if you learn guitar sitting you feel awkward as shit when you try to play standing up. if you learn standing.. etc. i sit down alot cause im a lazy ass but when i record i stand
