How did you get your name?
Hey DJTT, i was just sitting here and thought it would be cool to hear how people got their names(DJ names). i got my name because jordan means descendent. so i became dj descendent. did you guys just make up a cool sounding name or is it something that means to you?
I lack creativity in this field so I just use my last name, plus I find it weird naming myself

I was born with it … LOL but I did go by the moniker D!RK for a while, that was because a dirk is a type of dagger and I like backstabbing beats!!!

I was kinda settled on the monika “deep sea dj” then a few friends really said it wasnt all that suitable, especially since I live in indonesia and it need to be something that suits indonesian pronounciation. To be honest I didnt want to begin thinking up another name. One of my best friends who is greek that also lives in bali rings me one day and tells me that he has my dj monika…narrah he tells me…im like thats cool, i like it…then he tells me to look up the meaning… Turns ou its from an australian aboriginal language and it means “sea”… my brother and sister are both aboriginal and my sons name is “kai” which means sea in hawaiin… so that was it…

my last name is Hakanson…and in grade school my name was Hackysack…a) its a play on my name and 2)I was really good at hackysack lol

Last name is Craker, pronounced like a bread baker; in year 2-3 I got crackers then CRACKATTACK in high school.

Otacon isn’t my dj name, we are called Light and Sound because my best friend had a sick light rig and I have the sound rig and we wanted the name to be simple and let people know what to expect.
used to use chicoMODO because “Chico” is a shorter version of my name here in Brazil. And me and my buddies called ourselves the Bikers Mice from Mars, and I was Modo.
Now I use Acker. Shorter version of my surname.
I have been -
(a) Jack Bastard (explained in the other thread I started at some point).
(b) Dimitri From Powys (my surname is Powis and I am from Wales, also there is a very famous dj called Dimitri From Paris, my mate came up with that one, I think it’s brilliant and I use it for my new disco night)
But (c) mostly I don’t have a name at all, I’m just part of Magic Hatstand crew and that’s the way I like it. The crowd recognise me and they can ask me what my name is if they want to know after my set.
I have just recently started playing out and wanted a name that wasn’t my real name, which I don’t really like. I asked 3 or 4 friends for something that described me… they all said Dirty Hippie.
p.s. I shower every day… By my beard and hair are pretty damn scraggly and I rarely wear shoes.
