How do I get my CDJ2000nxs2 to work as a USB controller?

How do I get my CDJ2000nxs2 to work as a USB controller?

So I bought Serato Pro (including the activation for my hardware I think, it was some huge “pro dj” bundle), and tried to hook up my CDJs up to it with USB cables. When I go to Link > Control Mode (USB Midi) and select it, it just says “Disconnected” and doesn’t do anything.

The button that says Midi in Serato is greyed out, everything is plugged in with new cables and it’s the latest version of Serato on Mac OSX Mojave. Since both of my tables act the same, I’m pretty sure it’s something I’m doing wrong.

Yes. To use SeratoDJ with CDJ’s as controllers, first you need to connect a SDJ certified audio interface (SL boxes or mixers).

I used to have an SL2, I guess that would work actually but I sold mine with my turntables. I think I should be able to use it as a usb midi controller without that because I actually found a quickstart guide on Serato’s website, except in the quickstart guide you get to a point where on my CDJs it just complains about not being connected…

I wish I hadn’t given my DDJ to a friend, just using the CDJs with playlists on Recordbox is driving me completely nuts. Anyway I ended up submitting a support request to Serato, they haven’t answered yet.

Except it says I need 3 usb ports open on my computer, maybe the 3rd is for a mixer? It doesn’t actually mention the mixer at all. I get to step 6 “select the virtual deck” and then it doesn’t work.

You need to have a Serato Compatible Sound Card connected such as an SL series or any others listed at Serato DJ - DJ Hardware

I have 2 x Pioneer CDJ900NXS and a Denon DN-X800 mixer.
I use this setup for Serato DJ Pro in HID mode with a Denon DJ DS1 interface.
Works 100%.
