Directly on disc with LightScribe.
any other ways?
If you use iTunes for archiving there’s a nifty built-in way to print out track listings.
what’s a cd?

Wait… how?
With a pen that can write on CDs.
There is not a lot of space on a CD, I know, but I usually just have 3 to 5 tracks per CD, so that’s doable
Came here to say the same thing
Not the thing you put on a SL-1200MK2
The really last time I burnt a CD, I used SureThing software to create the track list. Sure enough NERO could do it too.
we just label ours “Prog 10” or “House 3” and slip a card with the tracks in the udg
What I have done is the following:
get a playlist in itunes and put about 1.2 hours of music or whatever.
Burn the songs and make a little slip to put in with the cds.
burn 2 of each cd so i can play all the songs whenever.
Then I create a folder with the songs on that cd in it so that its “universalized”
One day i’ll have a new pair of cdjs with usb drives.
Start listening to the cds in the car to get used to the orders
While I dont use CD’s myself, I spin with a few friends who do, and they all have a similiar style.
They have about 5-8 song per CD, with two copies of each CD burnt. The CD’s are labeled “Electro House 5” or “Dubstep 2” or more simply “105”.
Then they put a slip of paper in the CD wallet over each CD number with the following info printed:
Track Number
Track & Artist name.
Key
BPM
Each section is usually in different colours too. Seems to work well for them, they (and me) can find stuff easily enough.
Actually I just number them “100” an up
when i write my letters are like size 18 at the smallest, so right now i just get most of the name and some of the artist haha.
I dont label the key or bpm at the moment cause I’m training the old ears to beatmatch and select song with a more intuitive sense.
Also, I might add that when I organised the cds I started listening to all the songs i wanna use and kept listening to them back to back until I had 12 cds made so sometimes i just search thru the tracks til i find one fits, but if i need a specfic song i can find it hopefully one day by memory but slips will work for now.
Also, I used cue cards and cut them to fit into the cd sleeve.
Too bad you couldn’t make your own vinyl.
there should be a place on the net that you can choose the songs that can fill up the vinyl and they mak them for ya. custom charge of course.
Check them out, they might just be what you’re looking for…
takes too long, and doesn’t come out dark enough for my liking
I just slip a bit of paper in with the track name, Remixer/Artist and Key
3-5 tracks per CD
I used to just type the tracklist into word, then print it off and put it in front of the CD. I would also label the CD with the first track on the list, so I could easily put the CD back in its correct place
inkjet printer or the mighty magic marker for me! I’d have 2 of each CD with a max of 5 tracks on each. Its pretty hard to read in a nightclub, so you want big letters and not to much text.
I still take a cd wallet with my fav tunes to every gig I play just in case fingers crossed my laptop dies.. I update the wallet like once a month, but saying that, ive noticed more places in my area are getting CDJ2000’s so maybe i should look at doing the same but with a usb? hmm maybe even both.. lol
