How to DJ’s get unreleased tracks and such
So many tracks I love are unreleased/not on beatport or iTunes yet I hear DJs playing them out all the time. Do they just get them from the artists?
When I am practicing and such I dont mind using a song I ripped from youtube but there is no way I would actually want to use them due to sound quality and the like. So other than ripping songs from youtube or soundcloud how do you obtain these tracks?
A lot of artists on Soundcloud give out songs to there followers privately.
Some guys even give out there beatport songs before they go on beatport.
Ahh i figured there was some kind of exclusivity attached to it but I was hoping that was not the case.
Just like my girlfriend wants me to spin for a party shes having and wants to hear trap and dubstep and so many trap songs just are not out there

Dubstep is easy peasy to find.. dubstep.net is a good place to start.

All of my promos come directly from the label or artist… Most labels promo their tracks a few weeks to few months before the release date.
I get lots of new trap from these guys:

See if they have a record label with a mailing list.
I am on a few of them and yes, directly from their pre-distribution mailer, i get links to download prereleases exclusivly just because i am on their list
i guess owning an online radio station helps but its not always the answer
You can get on promo lists by simply talking to the producers/artists or if you approach the specific label and ask, but most of the bigger labels will only send you stuff once you have a few residencies or a radio show or both lol
“Like” your favorite artists on facebook as well. Often, new tracks will be up for download for a short time. Got a banger Krewella track last week that way.
yes i also suggest “liking” people on social media sites, i get tons of free , pre-release tracks , legally, from the artists this way.

yeah FB does wonders. Make sure you select " show in notifications" to see everything they post or else you just get random stuff once and awhile.
check some artist’s website as well. like i know Pretty Lights gives away all his albums for free DL on his PL site.

You would be seen in a better light by these folks if you also had something to offer
