Yeah, reintroducing a toggle for hotcues 5-8 would do wonders. Even a proper pitch fader would be nice, though might be more appropriate for something like a S1 module. That said, I did have a X1 Mk3 concept I mocked up in GIMP where the FX buttons and knobs were brought in a little more closer to the centre, with the buttons rotated 90 degrees to be vertical, then just added in the pitchfaders to the left and right where the vacant space was.
Well you can get the flux button to do that. I don’t really use flux, but I think I mapped flux to shift+ if I need it
I think it’s about somebody who is full of shit.
What the hell did he eat and why did he eat so much of it?
It is a display in the touch strip isn’t it ![]()
is it a jog wheel?
Anyone that thinks they can ‘patent and idea for a controller’ has surely got to be young and green. We all know (us older heads) that that simply isn’t how patents work. So from that we can deduce that we have a young guy here that’s popped up on the forum and said something naive so - there’s been some fun, let’s not get too personal or attack him too much.
To the OP: if you have an idea, talk to your father/brother or an elder in your family and get them to explain a little about how patents work. Then you will realise why people are being so dismissive.
And seriously, NI are not going to buy and idea from you or use your idea and pay you a licence fee - they been there before and they fought hard and tough to get out of it.
Just send the email to Ean Golden - remember DJTechTools makes controllers as well.
Yeah, the X1mk2 already does that. And it has pitch controls that are just fine.
I don’t understand why people keep wanting to put pitch faders all over every thing. If you don’t want to use sync, that’s what turntables are for. And it’s a better experience than any controller.
Because everybody wants everything on everything until, they want everything removing from everything.
it’s called fashion ‘darling’.
‘it must have jog wheels’ - then - ‘please remove the jog wheel and use touch strips’
‘touch strips are crap, we want screens’ - then - ‘we want touch screens and touch strips’
‘i miss the jog wheels’
‘i don’t use 4 decks, please make a 2 deck version’ - then - ‘when is the 4 deck version out’
Can you imagine being the guy that has to read all these emails from people declaring that NI/Pioneer/A&H will “go out of business unless you implement my ideas”
For real… If NI were to make a modular version of the S8 without the mixer section, I would buy 4 of them instantly. jus sayin. But truth. In the end, companies must do what will make them the most $$
Well they just released the S8… lets see what happens next.
Ah and OP… Just post your ideas here. I will forward them to NI! I swear!
patience, my friend. patience. who knows what’s up their sleeves.
Because I’m a fussy bastard!![]()
In all seriousness, I prefer finer controls than what the stock X1 Mk2 mapping offers, and find it a bit awkward/counter-intuitive having to hold down the sync button to then adjust the pitch using the encoder. That and I’m more used to the CDJ-style pitch faders as I used to use CDJ-400s before jumping into the world of Traktor. As for hot cues 5-8, maybe I’ve missed something when reading the manual for the X1 Mk2, but couldn’t see an option to trigger them on it.
Worst case, I might just end up getting a A&H K1 or K2 and using that for pitch fading in conjunction with my X1 Mk2 along with mapping hot cues 5-8 on those for each deck along with keylocking and a couple of other controls that aren’t so easily mappable to the X1 Mk2. Was going to build a custom MIDI controller, but the K1/K2 is starting to match the requirements more as I’ve been able to learn a bit more about the X1 can do.
Because Some people still like to include non-edm based music in their sets which means often tempo changes mid tune. Have you ever had to lug around turntables to every gig? It fucking sucks. Especially with the cost of checking overweight items when flying to gigs.
Jus sayin. You didn’t think that one through.
On a side note, the X1 MK2 is great, but as a standalone deck controller… it’s just not.
I have done that, and I did think it through.
If you can’t beatgrid your tracks, what is Traktor actually giving you over using the club’s CDJs?
I dont get your problem. Just buy one of the many many midi pitch fader modular units available.
The X1 does not need and should not have pitch faders. You want it to be a different device.
An encoder works just as well as a fader for pitch control.
And, honestly, pitch bending isn’t bad on the touch strips as long as you turn the sensitivity way down.
(like everything else in Traktor, I find the default setting way too aggressive)
Really? What about club standard gear for a fraction of the price? More effects, more hotcues, personal mappings… Do I need to go on?
