I haven’t seen any changes on my Traktor Kontrol S4 since I first upgraded on my mbp
The first time I installed my disc for the S4 on my macbook pro it was easy but once I had to download my first upgrade on my macbook pro, I never saw any changes to my S4, It seems as if I am still using the original version because my sound waves are not in color and the fx are the same. When I go to the
Service Center it shows that everything is up to date, I even install any new updates but I have no idea where they are going because I don’t see any changes on my S4? It is showing on the service center that Trak 2.0.3 is there. Is there something that I am not doing, I am also new to mac, so I don’t know if there is something extra that I have to do besides follow the steps and restart. Does anyone here know what’s going on? Thanks for your help.
Are you using the right version of traktor? The traktor 2 software is a seperate version than the s4 version. Look in your applications folder and find the traktor 2 icon, launch it and enjoy.
I had gotten an email directly from NI that said that Traktor Pro 2 (2.0.1) was now available to run with my s4 Controller…it would feature colored waveforms, customisable user interface and some new fx. I followed the download link and did everything right, I activated it in the Service Center but for some reason my S4 did not take the update. Now, when I go to the Application folder, then the NI folder, then I see Traktor 2 folder..in this folder I see the Traktor Icon (which looks faint and in black and white), I go on it and it opens up with the S4 program and here when I look at the upper left corner I now see Traktor Pro and so I see all the new features but when I close the program and open up the regular bright icon that is on my desktop which was what I first installed, it shows up with the old version (Traktor S4). Is this normal, will it always run with the two different programs? Wait, I just tried something, I copied the black and white faint icon to the bright icon and now I am only using this one, the only thing now is that everytime I open up the program it asks me to calibrate the job wheels, the prior version never did that. I keep setting them to factory setting, I was comfortable with it like that, but it will keep asking me everytime I open up the program. Thanks everyone for your help, you helped me figure this out. If I did something wrong now, please advise me, I don’t want to mess things up here. Thanks a bunch!
Sounds like your system is somewhat messed up. The easiest solution is to drag all your Traktor apps into trash, delete them and download the latest version from NI via the NI Service Center and re-install.
The red one is the old one, the grey one is the new one. The program needs to be inside your applications folder, if it is on the desktop drag it back into the applications folder. Then create a “shortcut” in your dock for the GREY one. To create the shortcut:
Yeah, it sounds like when you installed Traktor Pro 2 it never removed Traktor S4. If you were just clicking on the red/black icon, you were still using the S4 version.
As someone else said, you may want to remove everything and start over just installing Traktor Pro 2. However, it sounds like everything might be ok. You just need the TP2 icon/shortcut on your desktop. Which I’m not sure how to do with a mac, but it shouldn’t be that hard.
