Are their any videos of people using VDJ to do awesome shit? or mapping explanations for their controllers?
The fast that there’s a logic scripting language for mappings, instead of a retarded-bullshit controller manager which we all hate (/minirant), sounds pretty incredible, especially for midi outs like VU meters and such. I feel like with a full programming language and 99 channels of audio, the community could do anything… For example, is there any reason why someone couldn’t replicate all of the functionality of traktor’s new remix decks, including RBG readout?

Your skin seems to have colored waveforms!??!!? I’ve never seen that! Can you make them use the same formula as traktor/serato use?
yes you could do exactly the same thing as the remix decks rgb leds and all, but for the sampler to function like the remix decks punch mode you will have to wait until vdj8 drops as you can group samples together according to the teaser video from musikmesse. knowing atomix you probably won’t be locked into 16 samples it will probably be 99 like the decks so you could group together some to operate like ableton clips and some to just play on their own… and the best part is you could use a launchpad or apc full of samples utilizing their tri color leds for different feedback from samples.
In my skin everything is pgb “I left out red cause it didn’t look good and is reserved for warnings, so it starts from pink to purple”. You can pick your colors for everything, effect unit, waveforms, hot cues individually “any 4 colors”, vu meters.
I still have to add in a sampler, video sampler, and video as the picture on that page is just a concept of what I was after. All the colors have been toned down a little so they don’t contrast quite as strongly, and im happy with the background color it’s just because it is shrunk that it looks so dark.
the colored waveforms aren’t real, they are just a representation as colored wave’s were already teased, but hopefully we can choose our own color spectrum for them to be drawn with.
I’m still waiting for vdj8 to get into beta before I finish it though as It may all need to change if skinning is greatly improved from where it is now, I have been told we will have transparency in version 8 which will be amazing as we won’t have to have everything on pannels which takes a little time to do.
beatgridding is the same, the software detects the tempo and where the first beat is, if your playing bass music it gets the first beat wrong you fix it by mapping “adjust_cbg -0.25” then move on. Like all software accept for torq and ableton it does not have a flexible grid, it will only guess one tempo.
syncing has a few options: sync, play_sync, play_sync_onbeat, beatlock, match_bpm, smart_play, bpm_tap, edit_bpm.
I only use “match_bpm” as I like beatmatching and I’m too lazy to fix my grids although I made a mapping the other day that alligns your grid with the first cue point.
You have native HID and the same tools atomix uses to define it so no middleware is needed, and because you can use as many variables “modifiers” as you like, you can have multiple pages/shifts etc… all with different led feedback and rgb is just a couple of extra variables away.
There are no video’s of people doing “sick shit” and there never will be, I read a reply in regard to atomix’s marketing policy by the creator and owner saying they would never big note themselves and instead let the product and the community speak for itself. It is a terrible way of doing it to begin with imo, but once word of mouth gains momentum it is the best way as it’s easier to trust a friends word than an advertisement on youtube. And being released with 60% of controllers worldwide they are in a strong position with or without advertising.
VDJ vs Traktor?
Sorry for being a blatant noob in advance.
So…
I have been using VDJ for quite some time now and I’m considering purchasing the VDJPro-Full version; however, I was wondering how much Traktor would cost. I tried looking through the NI site, but I couldn’t find any concrete info. I’ve never used Traktor, but I have heard good things about it, which is why I am curious about it.
Essentially I am wondering how much it would cost for me to purchase and use for DJing. I’m using a VCI-400 if that would make any difference. Thanks in advance.
A Traktor license is worth $80. You get one free if you buy any of their DJ gear.
Aside from the $80 license, would you recommend Traktor over VDJ? I’m only mixing music, I don’t need all of the video stuff which VDJ comes with. Is it work paying the $80 for Traktor or going with the $300+ for VDJ?
Personally, i feel like VDJ is a beginners type of djing program…Dont get me wrong tho, ive seen some crazy things been done with VDJ…
Traktor is like the Pioneer of the DJ Community…Its what everyone wants but doesnt need 
Okay, thanks for the advice. I’m going to go to my local GC and see if they can answer any more questions and give me a personal opinion of the Traktor vs VDJ question.
traktor is better than vdj if you don’t want to modify anything about the way the software runs, vdj is a “fixer upper” meaning you have to know what you want to get the most out of it…
If your going to go with vdj get something like a mixtrack pro and upgrade it, you should be able to buy a used mtp for $150, then you can upgrade to vdj pro for another $150… you could probably even get a serial to upgrade off a friend, but you would want to do it before VDJ8 drops because VDJ8 will own traktor in functionality and an upgradable serial will have much more value then.
I messed with both demos or the lite version of vdj, before choosing traktor. Your mileage may vary, but I found more mappings for traktor to do what I want with as little hassle as possible. I also liked the standard layout more, as it fit the way I wanted to work better. I didn’t spend much time with VDJ, just a few hours before going to learn to use traktor more fully.

Personally I would go with the Traktor route, specially now that it’s dirty cheap but try the demo for both and see which one suits your needs better.
Understood. I’m going to try out the demo for Traktor (will it work with my VCI-400?). I’ve been using VDJ for about 3-4 years now, “keyboard” djing, and I feel comfortable with VDJ, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about Traktor, and DJTT seems to be backing Traktor with all of their product. SO, I guess I’ll take you word padi_04 and try it out.
Sure it will, just search for a mapping for your controller and you are good to go. The only limitation is that the program will shut down after 30mins and (of course) no timecode support, but you can open it again and keep on testing it.

I also suggest trying the official mapping http://help.vestax.co.jp/en/detail.php?id=430&id_page_url=370 I found trying the factory map, then deciding what I want out of a mapping later would steer me to the right map to choose.
