Keeping up to date with 'pop' stuff?

Keeping up to date with ‘pop’ stuff?

So as some of you may know, I’m a teenage guy who does mobile stuff around Sydney for parties etc etc. Anyway, i’m just wondering if there is an easy way to keep up with the really popular stuff. It sounds simple, but I hardly watch TV or listen to the Radio, and every morning i go onto facebook to see what new quirky electro is hanging around (which no one really wants to listen to)… So i was just wondering if anyone knew a site, or a facebook page that publishes all the popular stuff with download links and stuff..

And i know some of you guys might push me in the direction of itunes top 40 or beatport top lists and stuff… But that’s not quite what i’m looking for… If that makes any sense to anyone :stuck_out_tongue:

Tldr; I’m looking for a Facebook page which posts top 40 / Popular / Catchy stuff and YouTube links daily.

Cheers

I live in UK, its dead easy and i never listen to the radio.

Radio One - Chart and Playlist
iTunes - Chart

Done.

I find music changes sooo fast these days and music taste changes even quicker… get a party full of 16 - 18year olds of your in for some fun :?

My point exactly. Most of these top sites still have music which is like 6 months old, so i try to find the well known electro, but i’m still struggling.

I check up on mtv.tv occasionally to see what top 40 stuff is going around.

you checked out the hype machine? Thats good!

Ask facebook, find out common names of people who regularly remix top40 tracks and follow them on facebook, Round here some common names are Liam Keegan and eSquire

Good advice to check out MTV butttt you could end up spending 3 or 4hours in front of the TV :?

mtv.tv is their website

Ahh good point lol … Maybe ask your friends on Facebook or Twitter what their top 5 tracks of the week are

local radio charts. aslo the Ive found the charts on the Djcity blog to be most helpfull

You got a link to that blog buddy ?

start watching a lot of televsion, film or sports.

whatever you hear on there is generally pop or soon-to-be pop.

when your watching tv, don’t mute the commercials. commercials are great because the music is a huge part of commercial’s content, and depending on the product demographic - you’re going to get a great selection of suggestions for what’s hot and mainstream, or whats hot alternative manstream (hiphop, indirock, dance)

using pop culture as a digging tool is really awesome. it gives you a sense of trends and what the general public wants. if you pay close enough attention it also teaches you how music is used as tool to attract clients.

yeah http://www.djcity.com/

If you have any younger family members (cousins, nieces, nephews etc..) between the ages of 9-15, then they will tell you straight up what is hot & what is not, without even batting an eyelid.

Raid there Ipods for ideas. they love the stuff

For Pop & Hip Hop I usually go the Billboard, MTV or similar sites to see whats new or top 10.
