mac apps
hey guys
i should hopefully be taking delivery of a new macbook in the next couple of days (1st mac ever 
) and was just wondering what are your ‘must have apps’ and why?

alphakanals automat and green oak softwares crystal synth are 2 must have for production, aside from that just hit the KVR site and look through their free plugins.
Generally speaking or for production/djing?
For protection, get Chronosync. Way better than Time Machine and doesn’t use your entire external until it’s full. Has lots of conditions for backups and archiving. Very good stuff.
both regular and dj-ing ideally! like i said i’ve never used a mac properly before so anything useful…
i use main menu to clean temp files run disk utlity
Onyx is a great program for keeping ur mac in tip top shape 
Max for mass audio file conversion
+1 to Max. Great program.
dont mean to hijack, but does anyone know a good app to convert wmv to mpg or mov?

Generally speaking, use Versiontracker (Bookmarked in your Safari already) to look up applications and their description.
On the Dashboard-Widget-Side, I highly recommend to take a look at Application Update and Widget Update. Searches for Updates for Apps and Widgets by itself.
Quicksilver. It’s a lightweight app launcher so you don’t have to manually search your applications or fill up your dock with tonnes of entries.
