Midi controllers “awaiting pickup” in Ableton???

Was wondering if anyone here deals with this or knows what is happening here on my initial start up of Ableton. Basically I have to go through this routine of Turning my Novation REMOTE off then on, and pushing all my buttons, sliding all knobs and faders to get them to activate. In the Status Bar in Ableton there it will say “awaiting pickup” until it finds the connection between my controller and the mappings to Ableton.
I have gotten some responses on the Ableton Forums, and I have posted some details of all the different things I have tried to isolate the problem. Still not understanding why I have to do this unpon initial start up.
