Midi Looping in Ableton

Midi Looping in Ableton

Hello Everyone,

I am a big fan of the Mad Zach techniques for making drum racks and MidiFighter programing and have applied most, if not all, of his midi mapping techniques to my current Ableton default configuration. I was trying to do some recording the other night and came across an interesting problem and was wondering if anyone had any information as to how I can fix or change the configuration of this set to achieve some of the goals that i have for how i want to be able to control, write, and change my productions on the fly, using looping techniques.

Here’s the problem.

-I have an MF3D page set up where half of the arcade buttons momentarily trigger midi cell clips in a single synthesizer track column

-As a part of another track-group, i have a tracking column dedicated to each of the pages of the MF3D where it makes a midi loop clip. The idea here is to be able to loop the button strokes of specific pages, so that each page can be utilized to have a separate and specific job ( pg. 1. Drum Racks-Rythm., 2. Synth Rack Cell Triggers., 3 Hybrid of the principals of the first two, and 4. momentarily trigger FX on any track, instrument, etc.)

So when i made a midi loop of pg. 2, it tracked the pitch keys that i hit (buttons of the MF3D), but they no longer trigger the midi synth clips in the other tracking group.

Is this because the commands cant be saved and applied to other tracking groups? Or is it because the loop only saves the pitch key information, and the cells of the synth rack are triggered by CC commands since they are momentary?

Is there some kind of program that can function in tandem w/ Ableton (like a VST) that tracks midi commands, and loops them like how an audio looper does?

Is there just a better way i could have my Ableton rigging set up, or am i just missing something?

Anyone who has any information to brainstorm on this, i would greatly appreciate it!

Regards
Sabz
