Missing/stolen Gear From Luggage

Missing/stolen Gear From Luggage

Has anyone ever encoutered this, i just traveled internationally, and im missing a controller, and my audio 4 dj soundcard from my luggage, i sent an claim email, but it really sucks. Has it ever happened to anyone, and what where the results? did you manage to get anything back, or even money for your items?

Sorry to hear buddy! Don’t have any experience with this, but my thoughts are with you!

whats worse is the idea that that couldnt possibly the only bag someone went through.

i hope you can work it out.

Do a lot of follow up for the claim. If you used a credit card for the plane tickets sometimes they offer insurance for lost baggage and hotel relocation. Depending on where it happened options vary. If the flight was with connections, ie you went from spain to UK to USA, without seeing your luggage then you are more SOL since pinpointing in what connection the theft took place will be harder and the plane company would just blame each other. Still good luck!!

Sorry to hear that as well! Things like this is why I always travel with all my equipment in my checked luggage, things go missing way too fast when flying nowadays.

Why am I more worried about the people working for the airlines/airports than the thought of someone high jacking a plain?

because, people looking through your stuff and stealing your gear is a lot more realistic and probable than, the odds of a plane being highjacked, cus one of them happens everyday, and the other is a very rare occurrence.

be careful when flying!

As mentioned already, you may be covered by multiple parties. Credit company would be one, if you or you family have home insurance it “may” be covered even if the items weren’t in the house (though there may be a deductible). Does the airline provide any liability for missing items ? Was there anything in your luggage (like a slip of paper) indicating that your bag was open and searched for additional screening?

It’s all a huge pain in the arse but you may need to put some time into pursuing these avenues if you want your gear back or financial compensation. Do you have the original receipts for the missing items? They will be useful too.

Going forward, take all your stuff as hand baggage even if that means you are over the allowance for the number of bags you can take on the plane. Worst case, the attendant makes you check the bag but that mean it goes to the front door of the aircraft and then directly into the hold - far fewer greasy hands for it to pass through!

Good luck!

if we bought something at djtt is the receipt the order confirmation? or do we need the actual piece of paper that was shipped with it, if so can we get a new copy or no?

yes = that should be fine.

It took a couple weeks but i finally got my check from the airline! its really exciting to get some sort of reimbursment, considering i was starting to get used to the fact that i would be getting it, probably going to put this toward an s4 to replace the missing gear.

Nice one

+1. But from now on I’m assuming you’re gonna pack your s4 as carry-on. I always always always pack my laptop/controller/expensive stuff in my backpack on the plane.

of course, i had my vci and laptop in my carry on, i just thought since i flew across the world for 2 days i could make it easy on my back not having to walk around airports with 2 controllers and 2 soundcards, plus laptop, and nikon d40 2 lenses, and a camcoder, but ill reconsider what i put in my suitcase from now on.

Gosh man you have to step up your game. All pro DJs take private charters, duh.

On the real though, glad it all got worked out. That’s really shitty that that happened in the first place.

Damn, you were really packing. I most likely would’ve done the same, but that’s bad luck that you lost some stuff…maybe the universe telling you that you needed to upgrade some equipment?

i already had the feeling i needed to ive been thinking about an s4 for a while, and i think ill be thinking about it a lot more now.

my charter plane was going under repairs, too much partying on the last flight, couldnt use it for this trip haha

Dude, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. Thieving cunts fuck me off, it really makes my blood boil when scum bad little shit fucks nick things and you know they blatantly go and brag about it to their mates, and their mates probably big them them up and respect them for it. Dip shit little fucking waste men! Sorry for the language but it helps with getting my point across!

Although I was intending to change my suitcase on my next flight in a week, that video has made me think twice about using zip-up suitcases. I always keep my DJ shit in my hand luggage but one thing I will say to bare in mind is don’t put anything on your suitcase to indicate you might have something of value in it. i.e. DJTT stickers or anything along those lines. I’m sure it was a case of some fucker saw an easy target and robbed what looked valuable when the case was breached. But still, if someone’s got a big fuck off TECHNICS or NATIVE INSTRUMENTS sticker slapped on the side of their suitcase it’s asking for trouble.

This is pretty much the sole reason I would never get a UDG record bag as having like around 2 grands worth of equipment and a big white ULTIMATE DJ GEAR logo highlighted on your bag, especially when walking through some parts of London, is just advertising the fact you can potentially feed some crack heads addiction for the next month!

Anyway, glad to hear you got some compensation. Hopefully airlines monitor CCTV records a bit closer and catch some fuckers in the act!
