Mixer volume fader problems!

Mixer volume fader problems!

Hey everyone,

To start off, I have a Numark M6 USB mixer.
So, the problem comes from my volume fader from channel 3 and 4. When I put the volume to the max sound doesn’t not come out of the left speakers. If I tap it lightly the sound comes back.

Did anyone ever have this problem? Does anyone know what the actual problem is? and does anyone have any tips on how to fix it?

I tried using a spray to get rid of the dust inside, but it did not do anything at all.

Thanks!

You should try a silicone spray. Something like this. They can be used on electrical equipment.

There are cheaper ones out there.

DO NOT use WD-40 on any part of your mixer! Especially the faders!

Use something that’s made for the job:

Dont be mistaken, WD-40 is merely the company name. This product (MADE BY WD-40) is a silicone spray. Not what you would normally spray on the hinges of your squeaky door.

Like I mentioned, I used a spray made for the job specifically and it did not work or do anything at all.

You shouldn’t be using any kind of silicone spray on your faders. Always use a proper switch cleaner like Servisol or Deoxit.

I used the proper spray made for the job… it did NOT work.

A couple of days later (today), it’s actually worse. Like I said, when I touch the fader just a bit while it’s at maximum volume, there’s a bit of static and then no more sound comes out of my left speaker. I just tap it a bit and sound comes back and the sound is clear.

It may just be a broken fader. The best way to clean them is to remove them and soak in isopropyl alcohol for a few hours. If they still don’t work you’ll need new ones.

I was thinking of doing that actually. I will tomorrow.

It’s weird because at first it was only channel 3 that had this problem and then a couple of weeks later channel 4 started having the same problem, but it wasn’t AS bad. There would only be static when I touched it but when I didn’t sound would be perfect and now they’re both equally shit.

Thanks, I’ll try the isopropyl trick. If it doesn’t work, it’s over, unless someone knows why it’s doing that.

Problem SOLVED everyone! Thanks a lot!
