Modular Pioneer Set up - XDJ 1000MK2 w/ DJM450 or XDJ700 w/ DJM750 MK2?
Hi all,
I would like to move from digital djing on a small controller with VDJ to a modular set up. I recently played a lot on a mate’s NXS2000 set up and I am thinking about investing in some Pioneer gear for my home set up.
I cannot afford the NXS2000 gear and I cannot decide between the following two set ups.
XDJ1000MK2s with a DJM450
XDJ700 with a DJM750MK2
Would you rather spend more money on a Mixer (=DJM750MK2) or on the Players (XDJ1000MK2)? My preferred gear would be the 750 with the 1000s but my budget is not big enough for that.
Or do you think XDJ700 with a DJM450 are just fine to get a close-enough-to-NXS experience?
I think @Patch is probably right in a general sense.
In this particular case…
Are you going to want to use a 3rd or 4th deck any time soon? If so, will also upgrading the mixer be a problem?
And…which deck does what you need? Both of them are very limited compared to software. From glancing at them, the xdj-700 seems to be lacking some hot cues (compared to the xdj-1000mk2) and the ability to use the SP1 as a controller (for the perform screen features).
Also, upgrading a mixer is one thing. It makes more sense to upgrade decks in pairs. So, think about that as well.
I’d probably go with the nicer mixer, but every time I look at the pioneer decks, I see one or two things missing (compared to software) that stop me from actually spending the money. But, that really depends on how you play.
Unfortunately not. Even though the 850 (The mixer that the 750MK2 is modelled after) was. I can verify that the workaround does work with the 750MK2 tho.
I thought all newer pioneer RB mixers have disabled DVS routing in the firmware unless the mixer senses RbDJ is active on the other end of USB connection.
Sorry for the bump, but it’s worth noting that the following mixers are now Traktor Scratch certified in Traktor 2.11.3, which is currently in public beta:
Good. Im tired of hacking mappings to get shit to work with Serato and Pioneer still has yet to lock down their timecode issues with dvs (sticker slip and limited fine movements). Might have to dust off the 750 mk2 and give this beta a whirl.
