Perhaps it’s just me, but there’s nothing better than hearing some amazing track somewhere and then finally getting it for yourself to rock out to.
We all love music, and everyone here gets and listens to new songs from a variety of sources.
While it’s all well and good to sit on Beatport for hours, hitting the preview on every song in a genre, it’d be nice to get more personal suggestions.
I was thinking how cool (and possibly time saving) it would be for people to post up the names of their current favourite tracks and the respective genre.
Alternatively, if someone has a genre they are looking for songs in, people could post up track/artist/label suggestions.
Of course, it’s then up to you to find the tracks on the websites/sources at your disposal.

check out how the dnb is dead thread works, its all the dnb-heads chucking up badass tracks for all to appreciate. youd almost need one thread per genre (although could clutter the forums somewhat) or genre group, ie dnb/dubstep has more or less the same following so they work well in the same thread. otherwise i can see this thread also being a bit of a mess as its hard to put order to such a diverse topic. if ya get my drift…

honestly, its a good idea to go track by track through beatport. helps you discover trends, hidden gems, get a better idea of what crappy music is…
ive founds some gems that were listed in the wrong genre. having tracks that no one else has isnt quite as important as it used to be, but there is still great to play a track no one has heard because it was buried.
It would be quite nice to find this kinda stuff re-vamped. the closest thing i can think of is the Swedish house mafia stuff.. but I find that quite difficult to mix creatively cos it’s so vocal - needs a lot of looping to get right..
I absolutely agree with you. Infact it’s how i’ve found most of my music so far. But by the same token it’s handy if some fellow DJs are able to throw some track suggestions your way. Sometimes you might be suggested a song that you may never have otherwise thought about listening to.
Good call on making links to Youtube/Last.fm sites. This is sorta like a “best of the best” beatport portal right here
Electro: Huoratron - $$ Troopers rocks my socks off and spits lead at me.
i keep trying to use beatportal .. but i cannot bare this maddingly slow and flash ladden website .. nothing works as usual .. you cannot use a login manager, forward and back buttons mostly dont do what you need .. and oh did i mention the slow loading yet?
NI website goes in the same direction .. their login is frequently bugged requiring one to purge the entire browser cache. they also decided to no longer use cookies for the session id on their forum, which is both a major inconvenience and even security risk.
Lambox, those two tracks are killers. Damned if I can’t find the Kyau & Albert one on BP tho.
