The Big Thread Of Recommended Music

Hey there TechTooler’s,

Welcome to my latest instalment of “The Big Thread Of” threads… Recommended Music.

Every so often our forum members pop up asking our community the question of recommend me some insert genre here. I have dug deep into the archives and searched high and low to compile my list related threads and chatter, so I hope you all enjoy it!

It’s always good to have a browse through the old music threads for some inspiration when things get stale behind the decks!

If anyone has any other threads that I have missed out on, please feel free to add them below.

In no particular order..

Glitch Hop / Trip Hop

Disco / Funk

Dark Tech House/Minimal

Chicago House

Electro House

Grime

Dubstep

Psytrance 1 / 2

Funk

Mash-Ups

Drum 'n Bass 1 / 2

Boogie Funk (post disco)

…and now for some themed music selections

Offensive/Vulgar/Sexual Themed

Spring Break Themed

Horror Themed

Drug Themed

Japanese Electro/Cosplay Themed

Cinco De Mayo

Pool Party Music

That wraps it up for now.. There were a few other related threads but either didn’t survive more than a post or two, or were similar to others and had the same links/artists as another so they were omitted from my list.

Quality post! Thank you josh!
Sticky sticky sticky!!!

Nice one!

+1 for sticky!

+1 for sticky .. waiting for confirmation from the tekki’meister

+1111 nice work

i went back ten pages trying to find this thread cause i remember seeing earlier. just realized its been made a sticky. you should link up the dnb is (not) dead thread too!

Awesome post!

Unstuck and re-stickied it, just because I can.

But seriously, we might have to have a backstage chat about this one Jester. Realign stickies, or other options.

yep.. Ean doesn’t want dozens of stickies, thats why my ‘Big Thread Of Promotion Info’ got relegated to the Intermediate section of the FAQ.

i thought about it… however i dont think people are going to want to dig through 180 pages to find where songs are listed, so i gave it a miss!

EDIT: ADDED!

sticky status!

Like to add something on this… Not a recommendation on styles or certain tracks in genres, but a recommendation to all on a place to find new music…

It’s a place where you can get Creative Commons licensed music, meaning free music that you will never have to license unless you are using it commercially. Unlike normal commercial music where you have a chance of getting sued if you use it publicly. Not to mention it’s got a lot of artists you would have never heard of before, amazing resource for new music!!

I edited your post tuna. You put .com and I’m guessing you mean .org since .com was spammy.

I made a thread for DnB recommendations, if you wanna link it to the original post.

You are correct! Doh!

added!

Anyone who is into Psytrance/Goa , probably already knows about http://www.ektoplazm.com, if you don’t, it is a FREE music portal (MP3 / FLAC and WAV) and net label.

Lots of psy, downtempo , tech trance , techno etc.. all released under the Creative Commons license.

No ads, no registration!

My 2cents.

Just thought a few of you on this thread might like this - for the last 5-6 weeks I’ve been doing digging out three tunes a week that I’ve really been liking, then posting them up on my blog.

Very few rules, aside from that they need to be new to me that week - so some is unreleased, some is just out, and other stuff I missed on the first pass.

There are links to free downloads where they exist , and even an exclusive or two.

Ive made a request for “Boogie Funk” subgenre (Post Disco) Midtempo, no Gangsta, no 70s, no Parliament
Here is it:

Maybe you find it useful
Probably needs more tracks to be added
