My Setlist @ The Little Cave for Club Shadowplay

There is one very important point to remember here

Jasper, unlike other forums that are storefronts…

You have entered the…“Twilight ZONE”…

We are always watching…your. next. move. bing…

lol, j/k

What you need to know is that you are in fantastic fucking company. They know your girlfriend as if it were their own. They could navigate her, blindly, with both hands tied behind their backs while listening to TOP 40.

Nothing escapes as we reach critical mass.

So hold on, buckle up and enjoy the Ride!!

I think you would have a hard time finding any DJ that would play Ramon Ayala and Danzig in the same set. And show me the wedding reception that opens with The Exploited.

All of my shows get posted on here and they range from all kinds of House and different varieties of Techno to 60’s and 70’s and even modern Soul/R&B/Funk to early Post Punk/New Wave stuff. The people here who are lucky enough to have a varied or eclectic taste in music appreciate these sets I think because it gives them solid stuff to listen to. I genuinely do feel sorry for those that just don’t get it; There’s loads more stuff out there than 4/4 EDM.

I’ve got a 15 year old son who’s given me my fair share of headaches and proud moments alike, but the thing I’m most proud of as a parent is the fact that he’s not like you. He’s got an extremely varied and eclectic taste in music. I’ll gladly take the credit for that and hope that he can do the same with his children because being musically closed minded is the same as being closed minded about anything else. You have the right to not like it or not want to listen to it, but it’s not okay to bash someone else for liking it and wanting to play it for others that appreciate the selection.

When I listen to a set I want a good mix of stuff that I recognize, stuff I haven’t heard in a long time and stuff I’ve never heard. Even if it’s all House or all Techno or all Drum and Bass, if a DJ can make me reminisce and inspire me to buy new stuff in the same set it shows me he takes his job seriously and I for one appreciate that.

I consider the posting of my shows a mission to enlighten those that don’t know any better so I think it’s time to “open up your ears and clean out your eyes:wink:

Photoooooo-jojoooo Liiiiiiiives!!!

Glad your back, whew, we were worried there for a moment. Had Mini-Karlos on Standby and all.

That was a close one! Woot! Moving right along!

Hahaha

You couldn’t keep quiet for long

Each to their own I say - the guy’s entitled to his opinion - even if it’s wrong

Totally agree. Jaspers entitled to say he doesnt like JesC setlist. No argument from me there.
But hes not entitled to say that posting it is inappropriate and be an arse and then rubbish it without someone replying with equal right.

Of all the posts in the General Forum i think there are a LOT that are less appropriate.

When someone posts a harsh crit of something they should expect the same back.

I aint falling out with Jasper, im just disagreeing.

People forget that Moderators are just members with Mod rights. They like to post and be part of the community.

If i was JesC id be a tad pissed that someone just comes on and tell him that his post is irrelevant and that hes abusing his Mod position.

I dunno maybe im in a bad mood cus the NI Forum is down… my aplogies if ive been a bit over the top.

Peas:smiley:

That’s the quote of this thread.

But otherwise, the set list is interesting. Not something I would really dig myself, but I really like the eclectic nature of it. It seems like it would keep most people happy, and probably a lot of fun for you playing some of the more rare stuff.

Yeah, and I partially took that back in my 2nd post ITT: I said I’m new around here and implied that I misjudged the interest in this topic. Basically, for me, the “General Discussion” forum would be more readable without mixes thread (isn’t there a “Mixes and Productions” forum for that? and blogs? and soundcloud? etc.) But I’m apparently in the minority with that opinion. So, carry on, guys. My intention wasn’t to flame. I’m outta this thread now.

Thats fair comment dude but its not a mix. Its a setlist posted up for discussion.

I dunno, maybe im a bit cranky today but saying that “it saddens you” to see a set like that is a bit off.

Didnt want to be like bear with a sore head.

Think Jasper was just being a trolling douchbag though no?

Goes without saying posting a set here is totally fair enough.

I liked the look of JesC’s set myself, especially for a sunday night I think… seemed pretty decent.

Am interested to see Jasper’s set up now too, I must admit…

Jasper?

Jasper, I really dont mind that you didnt like my setlist. Everyone has different taste in music. And well it was a 4hr set and The Little Cave is not very friendly to the Beatport Top 100 Tracks. The whole Hip Hop/Top40 was random being that we have been getting a different crowdm so I really dont mind catering to everyone that comes to my “Sunday” night.

Tonight, I fell like playing some goth industrial and followed by tooted and booted and im sure my crowd is going to love it.

Oh b3nz0n8, you mentioned something about DM remixes? I have tons of them, some stuff that was never released, rare remixes, peel sessions. I have a mega mix somewhere on the net.

Thanks JesC…

I’ll jump on the web this weekend and try to find the mega mix. There have been a few DM remixes that that bring it all back for me. Very good stuff.
I’ll see what I can find and put some things together when work slows down.

Thanks for the heads up…looking forward to seeing what else is out there.

here are the dm mega mixes

Wooot!! Thanks JesC! In the cue and on the d/l right away.

You guys are making it very hard to sleep and I have to be Mr. Anderson for another 4 days.

Gonna be a loooong weeek. lol. Thanks JesC. I’m on the D.M. remix hunt!

Psy version: Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence (Wrecked Machines Remix - Xikau Edit)

Ohhhh…Snap!

Thanks Jesc, Im just a little over 21:smiley: my Friend Ive been at this for some time now mostly doing mobile gigs and corporate events now, but your set brought back some good memories. Ill definitely try and make it down for few drinks at least ! I guess some people don’t realize how much of an affinity we have for the classics in LA.

Hey Jes…a couple things:

  1. Fugazi. Waiting Room. How old are you? Fugazi is almost the original emo…I’ve always loved them.

  2. Do you mix these songs at a certain tempo or is it a lot of cutting and fading? I’m not sure how these blend together other than in some sort of GirlTalk mashup.

Beware: I am NOT knocking or questioning skills or anything…just trying to get a feel of how that night would have progressed is all.

Cool man give me a heads up when you want to roll down and shoot the sh!t. A couple of DJTT cats from L.A. comeout every now and then, but Ill be honest, its a pain if you have to be up early the next day for work.

Chilly, I know you mean no disrespect. The Punk Rock and Ska, I fade out…I will never mix that music out of respect. Plus is was the opening set, 45 min. Also the last thing I want to do is piss off some Punk Rocker or Sharp cuz I killed their favorite Specials or Misfits song. Everything else is beatmatched. BTW im 29 but I have been around music since I was 3 and I was lucky to be exposed to different music by bands, DJ’s and music collectors that I know.

L.A. is a melting pot for music, not to long ago I was lucky to hear a set from a awesome dj that only mixes Spanish Electro, think Ladytron meets Miss Kitten remixed by Felix Da Housecat (During Party Monster Era) WOW!

Nice mix bro…my kind of night. Foooo realsies

This i would LOVE to hear!!!

Cooll set list. Its really not my cup of tea but i am in complete envy of the musical freedom you are allowed!!
